Full-Time Environmental Data Delivery Manager

Job Description

Working within the Capital Markets team at CDP, this role will focus on driving data engagement globally for the largest and most comprehensive series of environmental datasets on the market. In addition, the role will champion best practices of data delivery and work alongside CDP’s Technology and Capital Markets colleagues to create, manage, and professionally deliver our data to our large network of stakeholders and supporters in the financial sector.

The successful candidate will lead on updating how the Capital Markets team keeps pace with a fast-changing environmental data landscape and will work with various internal teams to ensure effective and high-quality delivery of several key data delivery and sales management projects. You will be empowered to use your technical skills to lead innovation in delivering data and analytics, acting as a central coordinating point within the Capital Markets team.

The successful candidate will have demonstrable expertise in data-focussed business development, as well as advanced technical knowledge of how datasets can be managed and distributed to a wide variety of clients using the most appropriate data infrastructure and delivery systems. The ideal candidate will also have broad understanding and interest in financial services and environmental issues as well as some experience in quantitative and qualitative analysis, and ideally some experience with managing projects and staff.

Key responsibilities include:  

  • Find and pursue opportunities to provide CDP Capital Markets data products to Institutional investors, data providers, banks, fintechs and other financial services in the UK
  • Responsible for consistent, good quality data product delivery to all Capital Markets commercial clients
  • Support the closing of high-value commercial contracts with other account managers in the team
  • Creation of standard and bespoke commercial corporate response datasets every year, and proactive delivery of data based on multi-year contracts to clients.
  • Responsible for the maintenance of current data delivery systems in liaising with internal data analysis and technology teams
  • Innovating new data delivery systems/approaches based on market demand and team needs.
  • Manage data related Request for Information (RFIs) and Proposals (RFP) from large Financial Institutions
  • Support or supervise best practices in data management and data security across the Capital Markets team
  • Collaborate with North American and European-based commercial data sales team and global Capital Markets account managers

You will have the following skills and experience: 

Essential criteria 

  • At least 3 years of professional work experience in a related field (Data Analytics, Finance, Banking, Corporate Sustainability, or other Environmental experience)
  • Experience in delivering data products to sophisticated corporate clients and their data teams
  • Experience in responding to and delivering RFIs and RFPs, including composing written responses
  • Highly proficient in Excel and experience working with large datasets and data analysis expertise, including ability to use VBA macros.
  • Expertise in best practices for data management and data security
  • A fundamental grasp of the technical methods of professionally delivering data, either through cloud-based data sharing tools, APIs, sFTP, etc
  • Understanding of ESG data attributes and the needs the financial sector in using this data

Desirable criteria

  • Experience in a sales environment, with a specialty focus in large data sale
  • Proven ability to manage projects and staff
  • No coding will be required, but it would be useful to have an understanding of common data retrieval coding languages like SQL
  • Passion for sustainability and working with the private sector on climate action
  • Ability to work under pressure with geographically and culturally diverse teams
  • Great quality assurance and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to relay complex technical information in an easily understandable manner

This is a full time role that supports working from home arrangements but is based at CDP’s London office and would require occasional in-person attendance. The position will be reporting to the UK Capital Markets Director.  

Salary and benefits:  

£37,600 – £45,000 per annum, 30 days’ holiday plus bank holidays, generous non-contributory pension provision, annual discretionary bonus (depending on company performance), Employee Assistance Programme, life assurance, training and development, flexible working opportunities and other benefits. The position is based in London but with flexible work from home arrangements.
