Full-Time Equity and Justice Partnerships Senior Coordinator

Job Description

The Great Lakes Equity and Justice Partnerships Senior Coordinator supports NWF’s Great Lakes Regional Center (GLRC) as well as the Healing Our Waters – Great Lakes Coalition (HOW) and NWF’s Great Lakes Urban Initiative in advancing equity and justice in our work. In this role you will lead the equity and justice work that cuts across program areas at the GLRC as well as the lead the equity and justice work for the HOW Coalition. You will be the catalyst in formulating and implementing a strategic equity and justice plan for the GLRC, Great Lakes Urban Initiative and HOW, including leading initiatives to grow equity and justice competencies holistically. Your work includes building collaborative partnerships with communities of color and low-income communities in the region. You will report directly to the Great Lakes Regional Executive Director, with additional significant reporting responsibilities to the Director of the HOW Coalition and NWF’s Director of National Urban Initiatives.

Your areas of responsibility:

Partnerships and Outreach: You will foster connections with communities of color, tribal communities and low-income communities to inform and transform our on-going work. You will coordinate and manage convenings around drinking water and water equity as part of NWF’s Urban Initiatives. You will also coordinate the Healing Our Waters-Great Lakes Coalition’s equity and justice initiatives.

Programmatic Infusion of Equity and Justice: You will serve as a key resource and catalyst for deep integration of equity and justice into GLRC program areas, with special emphasis on advancing the Healing Our Waters-Great Lakes Coalition’s strategic and annual campaign plans. You will work with the Regional Executive Director to determine the programmatic support needed and resources available for other programs. Areas of work include equity analyses, justice and equity-related communications, new program development through an equity and justice lens, and other internal consulting needs as appropriate.

Regional Equity and Justice Leadership and Learning: You will lead in implementing office-wide and HOW Coalition initiatives around equitable policies, procedures, and learning with support from the national NWF equity and justice team. Through various communications channels, a forum will be provided where staff can raise questions, continue learning, and participate in important justice work.

Formal Education and/or Special Training Required:

Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Preferred experience working on issues of racial diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice.

  • Uses tact and diplomacy in dealing with confidential and sensitive matters, to exhibit responsible and respectful demeanor when dealing directly with colleagues and partners

Location:

Our preference is for this position to be based in Chicago, IL.  We are open to other locations in urban areas in the Great Lakes region.  Note: Due to COVID19 all NWF staff are working remotely through at least the end of 2020.

Travel Requirements:

You should expect to travel approximately 12-15 times per year as time and budget allows, once NWF determines that travel is safe.

The salary range for this position is currently $50,000 to 55,000 annually.
