Full-Time Environmental Public Health Program Manager II

Job Summary

 

The Program Manager II is responsible for managing services and staff within Environmental Public Health (EPH).  The programs and services under this position include School Health & Safety, Water Recreation, Site Hazard Assessment, Pollution Prevention Assistance and Solid Waste Enforcement.  Other EPH programs or services may also fall under the auspices of this position at the direction of the Environmental Health Director.

 

Organizational responsibilities include understanding and promoting the public health mission of the department; providing courteous, respectful, efficient customer service to all Public Health Department clients; honoring diversity of all department employees and constituents; participating in health department training; and striving for personal excellence in public health work.  This position reports to the Environmental Health Program Manager III.

 

Qualifications

Education and Experience: 

 

 

Requires a Bachelor’s degree in public health, environmental health, or a closely related field; Master’s degree is preferred. The degree must have been conferred by an institution of higher education and have National Recognition of Accrediting Agencies by the U.S. Secretary of Education, and official transcripts will be required at the time of hire.

 

At least four years of related experience including supervision, or a combination of education, experience and training that demonstrates the ability to perform the work.  Demonstrated people management experience is required.

 

Strong management experience with demonstrated success in program development and leading organizational change will be valued over educational experience alone.

 

Additional areas of Environmental Health knowledge are desirable as well as experience related to emergency preparedness and other more general public health programs.

 

Knowledge of:  principles and practices of program operations; principles and practices of project management, including planning, scheduling, monitoring, and problem solving; methods and procedures of budget development, justification, monitoring and forecasting; principles and practices of quality assurance and quality improvement; qualitative and quantitative data for use in strategic planning and decision-making; key components of cultural competency; awareness of differences, attitude to examine believes and values, knowledge of differences and skills to effectively and appropriately work across cultures; core competencies for Public Health Professionals and uses them to identify professional growth opportunities.

Salary Grade: M2.827 ($6,687.00 – $9,447.00) per month
