Full-Time Environmental Epidemiologist – Public Health

Job Summary

As the Environmental Epidemiologist, you will plan, design, direct, coordinate, analyze, interpret, and report on epidemiological data and/or studies for environmental hazards and health effects, specifically for the Environmental Public Health Tracking program and other Environmental Public Health Surveillance programs. You will collaborate with internal and external partners to provide intervention strategies, improve surveillance systems and gather new sources of data/data sharing. The epidemiologist will work closely with internal and external partners to identify data sources and distill them into easily digestible data products, such as dashboards that internal and external individuals may use to inform education, policy, changes, and other duties as assigned.



Education and Experience: 


This position requires a master’s degree in epidemiology or biostatistics to be obtained within 6 months of hire.


A master’s level degree in biology, environmental health, data science, or a related field may be considered if the candidate has completed twelve (12) graduate hours or more in epidemiology and biostatistics.


Strong data analysis and statistical software skills are required.


Experience creating surveys, distilling large data sets, and dashboard creation preferred.


Position incumbents are required to hold a valid driver’s license and have the ability to work flexible hours, which may extend into evening and weekend time.


All combinations of education, experience and training that demonstrate the ability to perform the work will be considered.

  • Application of epidemiological principles and practices, including surveillance, data collection design and analytics, and evaluation measures
  • Consultative and educational investigative techniques
  • Telephone interview techniques, consultation, and case investigations
  • Relationships between environmental exposures and human health
  • Social determinates of health
  • Principles of environmental justice
  • One Health approach and concept

Salary Grade: Local 335.40 $32.23 – $42.13- per hour
