Primary Purpose:

Oversee the management of the Energy Efficiency, Codes & Standards and Resiliency, Sustainability and Equity portfolios for the Customer Programs department at SDG&E. The role of this position is to help develop customer energy strategy (building electrification), ensure that our programs are fully compliant with all regulatory obligations and meet or exceed energy savings goals, oversee the filing of Energy Efficiency annual reports, operate all programs within budgets, work with Community Choice Aggregators, and reduce portfolio risk.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Plans and manages program operations for Energy Efficiency, Resiliency, Sustainability and Equity, and Codes and Standards portfolios.
  • Ensures strict compliance with all regulations pertaining to all programs (via Decisions, staff guidance, advice letters and other regulatory filings)
  • Serve as key witness in proceedings and manage applications from start to finish within Energy Efficiency portfolio (file application, respond to intervenors, data requests, motions), work with Regulatory and Legal.
  • Develop customer energy strategy for SDG&E, in collaboration with Sustainability, Customer Operations, Customer Transformation, and Strategic Planning, including developing SDG&E’s building electrification and decarbonization customer strategies.
  • Work with third party implementers to ensure operational program success, invoicing, and reporting.
  • Identifies and implements best practices to meet or exceed Energy Efficiency portfolio savings goals and third-party outsourcing requirements
  • Approve invoices for program operations in EECP and other systems.
  • Manages employee performance and development to meet existing and future program needs.
  • Maintains strong working relationships with CPUC staff.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with peers at the other California Investor-Owned Utilities to ensure consistency and cooperation in statewide program design and implementation.
  • Performs other duties as assigned (no more than 5% of duties).
Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Marketing, or equivalent experience.
  • 10 years’ related experience is required.
  • Prior management/supervisory experience is required.
  • Strong knowledge of Energy Efficiency programs required.
  • Strong analytical skills, the ability to handle multiple projects, and demonstrated success at budget management.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills; strong interpersonal skills with ability to persuade and influence.
  • Ability to think both strategically and tactically.
  • Ability to provide leadership and direction to team and larger customer programs department.
  • Ability to effectively communicate technical and non-technical issues to wide-ranging audiences and stakeholders in a credible manner.
  • Ability to prioritize work (often with limited resources), identify risks and develop and implement mitigation plans.
  • Must reside in Southern California or be willing to relocate upon hire.
  • We offer a hybrid work environment. Although the schedule may vary, typically this will allow you to work from the office two to three days per week and work remotely on the remaining workdays.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree is preferred.

Work Schedule
HYBRID: Work a combination of onsite and remote days each week, typically 2-3 days per week.
Salary Range
$138,900.00 – $208,400.00
