Education Development Officer

Purpose

Manchester United Foundation believes that every young person deserves a chance to succeed and can achieve their goals. Working in some of the most disadvantaged areas we use the power of football and Manchester United to engage and inspire young people to build a better life for themselves and unite the communities in which they live.

The main purpose of the role is to work with the Education team to support young girls develop; a healthier life, a happier life, new skills and experiences and a sense of belonging to people and place.

The role will lead and be responsible to ensuring that girls are engaged in our educational programmes (50% participants are female) through a range of interventions:

Curriculum Delivery, Leadership programmes, Competitions, Extra-Curricular activities, Mentoring, Targeted Intervention, Careers and Pathways, Qualifications and Skills and Enrichment

The Role

To lead on the monitoring and tracking of number of girls engaged through Primary Reds and high school partnership curriculum sessions.

Planning and delivery of girl’s only:

  • Tournaments/Festivals/Activations/competitions.
  • leadership qualifications in both the primary and high school partnerships
  • extracurricular football sessions at Foundation partnership schools

 

  • Development of activities related to the educational calendar of event.
  • To create a fun, structured, safe, and enjoyable learning environment that is inspiring, dynamic, challenging, and educational.
  • Support the creation and development of activities that will increasingly challenge and enhance skills, shape a positive attitude, and foster a confident approach to meeting the objectives of each programme.
  • Develop and manage effective working relationships with key stakeholders including the Premier League, The FA, Manchester United and partner schools.
  • Work with the Department leads to design, manage, monitor, and evaluate objectives to ensure they remain relevant, unique and aligned to the strategic vision of the Foundation and partners.
  • Undertake personal development as and when required by the Foundation and the club.
  • Ensure that good governance including the Foundation’s code of conduct is upheld in all activities, delivery, and physical appearance.
  • Uphold and promote the Foundation’s Safeguarding policy and those of partners, working in conjunction with both Manchester United FC’s Safeguarding team and partner leads.
  • Complete risk assessments to ensure a safe and healthy working environment at all times in accordance with Foundation and Manchester United Football Club’s policies.
  • Maintain FA coaches license and other qualifications where applicable, ensuring all staff under your lead do the same.
  • Any other reasonable duty as may be assigned that is consistent with the purpose of the role and its level of responsibility, including the ability to work flexible hours and travel.

The Person

  • Demonstration of academic achievement in secondary and/or further education.
  • Strong functional skills in Mathematics and English.
  • A full and clean UK driving licence (or recognised equivalent).
  • FA Level 2 in coaching football and relevant support qualifications.
  • A minimum of two years’ experience working (paid or volunteering) with children and young people, preferably within a charitable, education or sporting environment.
  • Proven ability of engaging with a range of stakeholders and external partners in order to achieve strategic and contractual objectives.
  • Experience of scoping, delivering, monitoring, and evaluating a range of physical activity programmes for specific target audiences.
