POSITION SUMMARY

The Education and Community Program Manager serves a critical role in the imagination, planning and execution of Strathmore’s Bloom and Education programs. In collaboration with the Director of Education and the Director of Artists in Residence, the Education and Community Program Manager builds relationships with community partners, artists, colleagues and the public in order to produce a wide-ranging set of programs, including public on-site events, off-site community programs, and programs in schools. They will be responsible for working within and improving systems for the department’s smooth operation, and will represent Strathmore Bloom and Education to patrons, customers, artists, and community partners.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • 30% Program Development Participate in the development of programs, research speakers and content areas, create and tracks program evaluations, collaborate externally and internally to identify opportunities and to create and execute new ideas.
  • 40% Program and Event Management Work with colleagues and external partners to design programs and events, such as the Step Showcase and Good Hope Community Recreation Center programming. Draft and submit offers and contracts. Correspond with diverse presenters, instructors, and colleagues to advance events, manage event materials, coordinate group educational visits to Strathmore, provide artist hospitality, prepare check requests, manage both on and off-site community events to ensure standards are met, and provide feedback to the Directors. Night and weekend work is required.
  • 20% Department Administration Keep event and attendance records, support budget management, organize future calendar and space planning, ensure timely and accurate communication and collaboration with other Strathmore departments including Marketing, Development, Operations, Programming and Finance; support the Directors with tasks as requested. With the Directors, supervise interns and part-time staff as they join the team.
  • 10% Marketing Support the Directors in their commitment to provide accurate, complete and timely information to Marketing by tracking deadlines, gathering information, and managing the Master Program Checklist and Booking Sheets. Update the Education Spotlight on the web, gather education images and testimonials from patrons and partners.
  • Customer Service Communicate promptly, warmly and clearly with colleagues, Education patrons and partners, building strong relationships.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for candidates who are self-motivated, collaborative, highly organized, and care deeply about the arts and community. You are an excellent communicator and writer, and have strong interpersonal skills. You are a methodical and skilled relationship-builder, detail-oriented, have proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Office Suite, and a proven history of successful management of multiple projects with varying timelines.

The ideal candidate for this position will possess the following qualifications:

  • 3-5 years relevant work experience
  • Commitment to working towards inclusion, equity, diversity and access. A background in these issues is a plus.
  • Ability to collaborate and work with diverse teams.
  • Strong time management skills; developed systems and habits for self-organization.
  • The ability to work in a fast-paced environment where flexibility and team effort are essential.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

STATUS AND SALARY

This is an exempt, salaried position. Salary is commensurate with experience, in the range of $50,000 to $55,000 annually with a competitive benefits package.
