Job Description


The National Registry of EMTs is seeking a part-time intern (15-20 hours per week) to support our Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) efforts. This role will be based remotely and is responsible for providing administrative and programmatic support to the internal Diversity & Inclusion (D&I) Task Force and to the National Inclusion, Diversity, Equity & Access (IDEA) Task Force. This is a great opportunity to engage in the important work the National Registry is doing in the DEI space.

Working with National Registry:

The National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians, a non-profit organization based in Columbus, Ohio and is the National Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Certification organization. The mission of the National Registry is to provide a valid, uniform process to assess the knowledge and skills required for competent practice of EMS professionals throughout their careers, and to maintain a registry of certification status.

Administrative Support – 60%

  • Assist in the evaluation of existing DEI efforts.
  • Support the creation & implementation of new DEI trainings, workshops, or any other relevant activities.
  • Provide staff recruitment outreach to traditionally underrepresented populations.
  • Prepare routing correspondence including letters, memoranda, reports, emails, etc.
  • Prepare agendas, notices, and meeting materials for meetings and conference calls.
  • Coordinate special or recurring projects as needed.

Meeting and Event Management – 20%

  • Present materials to committee for consideration for use in staff training and events
  • Participate in the coordination and implementation of D&I and IDEA Task Force activities.

Other Duties as Assigned – 20%

  • Work on internship goals and outcomes that are diversity, equity, and inclusion practitioner-related in preparation for a career.

Reporting Relationships:

  • The DEI Intern directly reports to Human Resource Director.


  • Must be currently enrolled in an accredited undergraduate or graduate program in business, communications, gender or ethnic studies, sociology, psychology, or related field.
  • Strong personal interest in advancing diversity, inclusion, and equity.
  • Superior organizational, prioritization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform at a high level in a fast-paced setting.
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Values integrity, teamwork and is respectful of others.
  • Intermediate experience and knowledge of MS Office platforms including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Teams
