Full-Time Director, Product Marketing

Job Description

The Director, Product Marketing will play a key role in driving product marketing for our enterprise subscription management platform. Reporting to the SVP of Marketing and partnering closely with the Product, Sales, and other Marketing functions, this person will be responsible for understanding the market opportunity, segmenting our customer base, understanding their needs and buying criteria, mapping their journey and distilling it into actionable insights for Product and Marketing teams.
The person will also be responsible for building a customer-centric Go-To-Market discipline and planning process for our products in partnership with the Product, Sales, Demand Generation, Content, Communication and Customer Success teams. He/She will lead a small, but mighty team.

Responsibilities

    • Own Go-To-Market strategies including key messaging development and tactical plans, ensuring that all market-facing and customer-facing teams are on-message and maximizing each channel.
    • Lead Market intelligence. Be the expert on our buyers, who are they, how they buy and their key buying criteria. Conduct market sizing.
    • Identify target customers, their needs, and how products will meet those needs. Be a conduit for the “Voice of the Customer’. Own customer and market feedback collection and analysis, and become a strategic partner with product and sales teams and their leadership to distill and surface market feedback.
    • Develop positioning and messaging platforms anchored in deep understanding of Recurly’s ideal customer profile and market conditions.
    • Partner with demand generation, content and communication teams to develop differentiated, crisp Go-To-Market deliverables and marketing programs that drive revenue.
    • Support our sales team by developing and executing training on the problems we solve for our buyers and users. Lead creation of internal sales enablement tools such as presentation decks, demo scripts, competitive briefs and educate our team on how and when to use them.
    • Partner with colleagues across the company to increase customer engagement and learning initiatives that drive revenue and growth of the install base.
    • Lead market intelligence including becoming an expert in our competitive landscape and developing a viewpoint on how our competitors are positioned and where they’re going.
    • Own weekly and monthly reporting of product marketing metrics.

Requirements

    • 7+ years of product marketing experience in a high-growth SaaS environment and at least 3+ years of experience in managing a team.
    • Proven ability to drive competitive positioning as well as demonstrated experience in creating messaging; experience in SaaS, payments and/or financial technologies highly preferred.
    • Clear history of enabling enterprise sales teams to succeed and exceed their goals.
    • Demonstrated reliance on data with the ability to identify trends and articulate business results achieved by past marketing initiatives.
    • Exceptional planning, communications, and interpersonal skills with the ability to meet individual and team deadlines.
    • Ability to wear multiple hats, manage several projects simultaneously and thrive in a fast paced start-up environment.
    • Degree in business, marketing, finance, information technology or another related field.
    • Superb communicator with executive presence and ability to effect change at both a people and process level.
