Director of Technical Operations

DomainTools helps security analysts turn threat data into threat intelligence. We take indicators from client networks, including domains and IPs, and connect them with nearly every active domain on the Internet. Those connections inform risk assessments, help profile attackers, guide online fraud investigations, and map cyber activity to attacker infrastructure. DomainTools is seeking a proven Director of Technical Operations to manage our technical infrastructure, process, and operation of our production services. This position will report to the CTO, and will be responsible for coordinating and leading the operational aspects of our technical infrastructure to ensure smooth running of business infrastructure and our SaaS products and services to an Enterprise Customer base that already includes 40% of the Fortune 100.

Requirements

Job Responsibilities

  • Own and drive vision for corporate IT infrastructure and services
  • Set objectives for technical operations as well as implement action plans necessary for achieving set targets
  • Ensure successful automated provisioning and management of technical infrastructure required for business operations and availability of our offerings in a hybrid cloud environment
  • Prepare and implement budget for technical operations and corporate IT infrastructure in order to achieve set objectives
  • Responsible for the immediate triaging of urgent technical issues
  • Own and manage relationships with hardware and software vendors
  • Develop processes for the resolution of technical challenges
  • Provide guidance on issues intersecting on technical and managerial operations
  • Liaise with non-technical staff to ensure general corporate operations run smoothly
  • Set information security vision and support its implementation including addressing client requests around operational security, vulnerability management, and infrastructure security
  • Prioritize and schedule updates to legacy systems and infrastructure
  • Directly manage a skilled team of Principal and Senior-level System Engineers, Network Engineers, and IT Administrators and associated workflows
  • Oversee the hiring, training, and monitoring of the technical operations team

Essential Experience/Skills

  • 10+ years of deep technical experience with 5+ years of management responsibility.
  • Proven track record of building and leading technical teams that include system engineers, IT engineers, and network engineers.
  • A critical comprehension of and appreciation for how IT delivery and stability impacts the entire organization.
  • Experience in data center management.
  • Experience with a hybrid cloud operational strategy, including execution and support
  • Strong organization, attention to detail, and self-motivation.
  • Motivated problem solver with the ability to do so across a wide variety of technologies.
  • Experience with both Linux and MacOS operating systems.
  • Detailed understanding of core networking technologies.
  • Management and monitoring of both physical and virtual server environments.
  • A track record of driving through to completion.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

Preferred Experiences/Skills

  • Knowledge of the threat intelligence and cybersecurity space.
  • Experience with AWS as a cloud provider, and cloud migration strategies and pricing tradeoffs using AWS.
  • Managing a hybrid of on-premise and remote teams.
  • Experience with driving automation throughout technical operations.
  • Experience supporting development lifecycle in an operations management capacity
  • Knowledge of real-time data processing system and experience with production application management
  • Familiarity with several key technologies used at DomainTools, including: Google Workspace/GSuite, Jamf, Code42, Cohesity, Nutanix, Ansible, and Kubernetes
