Full-Time Director of Programs

Job Description

The Army of Survivors (TAOS) is looking for a Director of Programs to join our small but mighty nonprofit organization. We are a survivor-founded and led organization whose mission is to bring awareness, accountability, and transparency to sexual violence against all athletes at all levels. Our work is survivor-defined and rooted in the principles of social justice. It is guided by the experiences of survivors, up-to-date research, and an intersectional, trauma-informed analysis of how systems impact the lives of survivors.

This is an extraordinary opportunity for an individual with trauma-informed sexual assault prevention and intervention programming experience that wants to help develop the program department of a growing nonprofit that has international reach.

The Program Director should be an inspirational and effective leader and strategic thinker with deep knowledge of sexual assault prevention and intervention as well as advocacy in the field of gender-based violence.

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Director of Programs will be responsible for the programmatic success of TAOS, ensuring programs reflect the needs of athlete survivors of sexual assault and promote the safeguarding of all athletes. In this newly established role, the Director of Programs will manage a growing volunteer base and eventually additional program staff.

Overview:

The Director of Programs oversees the planning, implementation, and evaluation of TAOS programs. This person will work directly with the Executive Director and the Marketing and Communications Director to develop and implement initiatives that connect people in the broader community to our vision through specified programs that align with our mission. 

This position is a fast-paced, hands-on, ever evolving job that collaborates closely with all team members, including staff and volunteers.

Survivors of sexual assault, athletes with lived experience with sexual assault, Black, Indigenous, and other people of color, and TGI individuals are encouraged to apply.

General Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement programming that aligns with TAOS’s strategic priorities
  • Schedule program work, oversee daily operations, coordinate the activities of the program and set priorities for managing the program
  • Prepare or assist in the preparation of grant requests and funding continuation
  • Supervise the program contractors, volunteers and eventual additional staff
  • Collaborate with Director of Marketing & Communications to promote program launches and volunteer opportunities
  • Prepare and manage an annual budget for program activities
  • Nurture new and old relationships with collaborative partners
  • Assist in the organization of special events within the program

Qualifications:

  • Embrace TAOS’ mission to bring awareness, accountability, and transparency to sexual violence against athletes at all levels
  • Experience organizing and mobilizing youth action teams
  • In-depth knowledge about Relationship Violence and Sexual Misconduct (RVSM), trauma-informed, crisis intervention practices when working with survivors
  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, social justice or related field
  • 3+ years working in non-profit programming and community outreach and organizing 
  • Strong experience preparing and successfully implementing programming
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple projects at a time
  • Flexible and team oriented
  • Knowledge of social media and other basic marketing platforms
  • Experience with program department budget management

Preferred Experience:

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A passion for gender, racial, and social equity
  • Successful experience in a creating and building trauma-informed, survivor-centered programming and associated activities
  • Experience building and coordinating successful volunteer programs
  • Understanding of the sports world, and ability to work with sports organizations
