Full-Time Director of Marketing Strategy

RealSelf is seeking a Director of Marketing Strategy to define and deliver our Consumer and Brand marketing strategy and OKRs. In this pivotal leadership role, together with your team, you will play a significant part in aggressively growing our business by identifying and promoting opportunities for consumers to engage with doctors and industry partners. You will own the marketing roadmaps’ development- defining integrated marketing campaigns & programs that drive strategic growth throughout the consumer lifecycle (acquisition, engagement, retention). You will ensure that plans are customer-centric and insight-driven to hit performance goals (traffic, contacts/bookings, other engagement, and revenue) month after month.

We are looking for an entrepreneurial leader with a track record of outstanding end-to-end marketing ownership, including front line P&L, and a flawless ability to work within the marketing org and across organizations. Externally, this role may work with a variety of partners, media outlets, associations, and agencies.

In this role, you will: 

  • Define the vision of RealSelf’s Consumer & Brand marketing strategies that deliver aggressive financial growth, customer growth, and strategic value to the company
  • Oversee the end-to-end execution of integrated marketing campaigns and programs (briefs, plans, narrative, presentations) focused on driving full lifecycle (awareness, acquisition, engagement, retention/CRM) via partnering with channel marketing teams, including paid (search, social, display, affiliates, influencers, emerging), earned & owned channels (email, social, ambassadors, PR), in-house produced events (virtual and in-person), and on-site.
  • Establish OKRs for the growth of Consumer & Brand marketing; adjust and evolve programs (new tests & concepts and existing) to meet these goals.
  • Partner with multiple internal teams including content, creative, analytics, business leaders, product & tech to execute, measure, and optimize the work through continually testing, learning, and iterating. 
  • Lead a team of lifecycle and growth hacking strategists, research & insights, PR/Comms professionals, and third parties as necessary to define, develop, manage, and deliver.
  • Be the bridge between business strategy and key stakeholders to conceptualize big ideas (company/brand, customer) and turn them into actionable plans, ensuring they align with and support strategies that are executed flawlessly.
  • Oversee your team’s annual planning, forecasting & budget management, OKR deliverables. Establish and evolve deliverables as needed.
  • Participate actively and regularly in the rhythm of the business, including weekly leadership meetings, company-wide meetings, product prioritization meetings.
  • Develop and manage targeted strategic relationships as needed with partner, media, and industry partners.
  • Maintain a high level of expertise in the beauty & wellness, medical aesthetics, media, marketing tech industries to spark new ideas and leverage trends.
  • Act as a key steward of the brand in building, leading, executing – including the willingness to represent RealSelf as a spokesperson
  • Build and develop a collaborative high caliber team and role model culture

About You:

The person who joins the team must be customer-obsessed (your bar is high. Really high); therefore, you are passionate about the beauty and aesthetics category. 

Requirements:

  • 10+ years of consumer marketing and brand experience, including digital marketing expertise and deep CRM/lifecycle experience with a leading tech, eCommerce, or high-growth D2C consumer brand
  • Track record of achieving and scaling aggressive marketing and customer growth through analytics, insights, experimentation, and data. 
  • Expert-level experience with strategy development (briefs, narratives, business cases, presentations) and planning
  • Experience building and developing high-caliber teams including functions on your team: CRM/lifecycle, brand strategists, comms planners, research & insights (qual and quant, segmentation & personas), growth hacking, pr/comms through high growth, dynamic market conditions, and ambiguity
  • Proven experience authoring strategies, designing, launching, and optimizing multi-channel consumer and brand marketing campaigns with accountability over multi-million-dollar marketing budgets.
  • Solid experience developing, managing, and launching new programs, categories, and markets partnering with product/tech, business, and marketing teams.
  • Outstanding interpersonal, written (narrative docs, marketing briefs, presentations), and verbal (in person, podium, panel) communication skills.
  • Exceptional organizational dexterity with the ability to engage key stakeholders, build consensus and drive action across multiple business groups from all levels.
  • A natural, authentic ability to energize people and motivate teams and spark powerful cross-functional collaboration, translating evangelism into action.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or other Master’s degree strongly preferred.
  • Crisis communications and issues management experience

Other:

A writing exercise will be required for selected candidates. A portfolio representing your work is welcome.

Travel:

Occasional travel (<15%) may be required 

Work Environment:

This role is open to fully remote candidates in most states. Working remotely from a primary residence outside the United States is currently not permitted.
