We have an opportunity at our corporate offices in Chicago for a Director of Marketing on our Health Solutions team. As a Director of Marketing you will collaborate with the SVP, Vice President (VP) of Sales and the VP of Product Management to develop and execute marketing programs aligned to the organization’s objectives. Provide operational support and act as liaison to product management for sales and marketing activities. In coordination with the SVP, VP of Sales and VP of Product Management, assess present and future needs, trends, problems, and revenue opportunities for all lines of business (Coding and Payment Print & Digital Products, Credentialing Services, and Content Licensing). Lead execution of Market Research through internal and external resources. Accountable for two core sets of responsibilities: (i) own marketing strategy, communications and marketing collateral materials (ii) develop and manage a marketing team with the capability and focus to deliver against data-driven performance objectives.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Lead marketing and communications execution by: 

  • Monitoring effectiveness of marketing campaigns, conferences and promotions in relationship to revenue goals.
  • Managing marketing budget and spend, with a focus on achieving greater impact.
  • Work cross-functionally with HS Operations, Sales and Product Management to assist in the development of market strategies for all products and market segments.
  • Develop value propositions, messaging frameworks, and editorial calendars to support an effective content marketing strategy for HS’s key lines of business.
  • Oversee HS’s Trade Show presence and establishes high standards of excellence for the AMA’s presence at trade shows as represented by the team’s professionalism and its quantifiable results in terms of lead generation and sales.
  • Provide actionable metrics and recommendations in the form of management dashboards.

Direct and manage a core marketing team to ensure that appropriate and practical research, promotion, and marketing support plans are created and executed for the LOBs. 

  • Select and hire the marketing resources.
  • Provide appropriate training, guidance, and leadership for development of the marketing staff.
  • Performance management for the marketing team, including setting goals and objectives.

In partnership with the SVP, VP of Sales and VP of , Product Management, prepare and implement a strategic marketing plan for the HS LOBs, incorporating sales and marketing objectives, strategies, and business goals. Based on market and customer analysis collaborate on new enhancements and products.

May include other responsibilities as assigned. 

REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Bachelor’s degree required. Degree in Marketing, Business preferred; Master’s degree or MBA preferred.
  2. 7-10 years comprehensive knowledge of sales and marketing, with the capacity to extend that knowledge to staff and to build an effective sales and marketing strategy required.
  3. Demonstrated ability to think strategically, plan, and execute marketing programs that achieve measurable objectives.
  4. Knowledge and understanding of the coding and reimbursement industry, health IT, and the healthcare industry as a whole preferred.
  5. 5 years’ experience leading and managing direct reports in managing marketing.
  6. Highly collaborative style with the ability to influence and to work collaborate across the AMA and HS organization required.
  7. Exceptionally strong experience as a business manager with solid ability to conduct sophisticated and creative analysis. Strong working knowledge of marketing, business and procedures in order to reach revenue targets. Flexibility and ability to adjust on the fly to new demands; sense of urgency, required.
  8. Comfort with ambiguity and a changing environment.
  9. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact with the highest level of management and the ability to translate results into easily digestible messages, recommendations, and presentations.
  10. Up to 10% travel.
