The Role

The Director of Learning ensures that JVS’s training design and delivery is highly engaging, meets the principles of adult learning, and contains the appropriate mix of mediums to successfully meet learning outcomes. This position leads the instruction and delivery team, and manages the coordination between curriculum and the learning management system to ensure that the connection of education and technology is an effective, accessible, and enjoyable experience for JVS clients.

Scope

  • Oversee the transition into and implementation of the Learning Management System, utilizing best-practice instructional design methodologies
  • Actively collaborate with the Training Team to create engaging learning pathways aligned to identified outcomes using learning theory and instructional design principles
  • Define curriculum criteria for both internally vs externally created curriculum; define best practices for when to use internal vs external content and how to integrate them into one learning pathway
  • Oversee the creation and maintenance of an instructor repository, including developing lesson plans, instructor guides, rubrics and other supplemental material that can used by instructing staff to carry out learning outcomes
  • Define and implement practices for monitoring, evaluation, and standardization of curricular offerings
  • Train staff on new learning theory and practice; develop instructor training resources and criteria for instruction quality evaluation
  • Lead the Learning Team; provide guidance and supervision to direct reports, create and manage department budget

Qualifications

  • Passion for equity, education, and social impact
  • Knowledge of learning theories and instructional design practices
  • Understanding and experience with eLearning authoring tools and learning management systems
  • Strong ability to collaborate within and across teams to achieve a shared goal
  • Experience designing systems for remote and in person content, synchronous and asynchronous delivery
  • Experience designing curriculum delivery strategies with anti-racist and anti-bias lens
  • Strong computer literacy, especially in digital learning and tracking systems
  • Experience leading significant change management processes
  • Experience in leadership/team management, supervision
  • Preferred to have worked in and/or with nonprofits serving a similar target population to JVS’s

What We Offer

  • Annual Salary: $105,000 – $115,000
