Position Summary:

The Director of Human Resources Equity is responsible for providing institution-wide leadership and guidance on human resources and talent management matters pertaining to diversity, inclusion, and equity at Bridgewater State University. The Director will partner with leaders in the division of Human Resources and Talent Management (HRTM) to catalyze the development and implementation of equity-oriented HRTM practices and strategies and ensure that all HRTM policies, procedures, operations, services, and initiatives use an equity-practice framework and focus on the core practices of equity. The Director will collaborate with key institutional leaders and serve on committees such as the Racial Justice Equity Council, the Disability Access and Inclusion Committee for Employees, and the Racial Equity and Justice Institute, thus supporting the overall mission of the institution.

Position Type: Professional Non-Unit

Essential Duties:

• Direct the implementation of approved recommendations and initiatives proposed by the Racial Justice Equity Council and involving HRTM; serve as an HRTM representative on the Council.

• Lead the development of Employee Resource Groups (ERG) program at the university.

• Participate in the divisional strategic planning process and the development of annual goals using an equity lens and emphasizing equity-minded practice in HRTM initiatives.

• Collaborate with the vice president of HRTM to review policies, procedures, and practices using an equity-minded lens.

• Partner with HRTM leaders to ensure a consistent and inclusive approach in the delivery of HR services and the administration of HR policies and procedures.

• Partner with the Talent and Development department and the Division of Student Success and Diversity to deliver professional development that builds employee equity-minded competence and fosters an inclusive and equitable culture.

• Coordinate with the director of labor & employee relations to assist managers with culturally sensitive issues and facilitate equity-minded employee relations conversations.

• Collaborate with Talent Acquisition to ensure effective outreach, recruitment, and retention strategies.

• Researches, develops, and implements equity-minded outcomes and metrics and use data to guide and inform improvements in the division of HRTM’s equity-minded practice.

• Collaborate with other equity leaders at the university and meet regularly with staff in the division of Student Success and Diversity.

• Research and recommend best practices related to an equity-minded practice framework with an emphasis on human resources and talent management policies and practices.

• Participate on committees as assigned by the vice president.

• Perform related work and projects as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree.

• Demonstrated leadership advancing equity-minded practice, cultural and equity competencies.

• Ability to work collaboratively with a diversity of people, thought and perspective, and practices.

• Capable of influencing others outside direct supervisory lines.

• Experience developing and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders and partners both internally and externally.

• Demonstrated success applying analytics and metrics to assess program outcomes.

• Ability to work in an environment demanding exceptional levels of confidentiality.

• Project management experience and leadership resulting in progress of initiative.

• Ability to work under deadlines and adapt to changing priorities.

• Demonstrated organizational skills, strong attention to detail, strong verbal, and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master’s degree.

• Experience as an HR practitioner developing and implementing programs designed to support equity-minded objectives.

• Knowledge of federal and state employment laws.

• Experience in higher education.

• Bi-lingual ability.

• Experience in a unionized environment.

• Formal training or certification in diversity, equity, and inclusion concepts.

• Certification from the Human Resources Certification Institute (HRCI) and/or Society of Human Resources Management (SHRM):

• HRCI Professional in Human Resources (PHR)

• HRCI Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR)

• SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP)

• SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP)

Salary Range: $85,000 – $95,000
