Full-Time Director, Finance and Operations

Job Description

Founded in 1965, Street Haven offers pathways for women who may be experiencing or at risk of homelessness, substance dependency, mental health challenges, trauma, poverty, and food insecurity, through a variety of integrated services in which women support women. Street Haven provides emergency shelter, supportive housing, addiction treatment program academic upgrading and pre-employment services. Women who desire enhanced quality of life and well-being will find an inclusive “safe haven” in which to rebuild their lives.

What began over 50 years ago as a small place of safety for less than a dozen women, Street Haven has evolved into a multi-service, multi- location, organization with inclusive services for all women. Today, the organization oversees a 28-bed emergency shelter, 47-bed hotel shelter, 32 supportive housing units, academic upgrading and pre-employment services and addiction services including a three-month In-residence treatment program and community outreach across Toronto.

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Director of Finance and Operations will be a hands-on, and strategic leader. A key member of the Leadership team, this position will be responsible for finance, human resources, information technology, and operations, including special projects, property maintenance and capital planning. The Director of Finance and Operations will be responsible for leading complex multi-stakeholder programs and change initiatives. Special projects will an integral component of this position as the organization moves forward in its transformation and development as a sector leader.

The successful candidate will be an inclusive leader with exceptional communication, innovative systems thinking, team and stakeholder engagement skills. You are a seasoned finance and operations leader with a finance or accounting designation, previous non-profit experience, providing fiscal leadership, advice, and guidance. As an ideal candidate, you have been involved in the community and have an understanding of government, policy, programming, and funding models related to social services. You are a change agent with impeccable ethics and have demonstrated experience improving processes and systems with a continuous improvement culture. As such, you will be at the forefront of leading multiple functions in the organization.
