Full-Time Director, E-Learning and Design

Who You Are

The Director, E-Learning & Design utilizes expertise in E-learning design, core competencies for leadership development, and adult learning theory to lead the creation of high-quality online tutorials and materials. This individual will be working with the Program Design Team and other teams to create, revise, and publish E-learning program content. This position reports to the Senior Director, Design & Development.

 

What You’ll Do

Lead the scripting of high-quality E-learning (online tutorials) to meet established learning objectives, in collaboration with content developers and instructional designers.

  • Build and publish courses in Storyline, including the incorporation of audio and the creation of interactive experiences.
  • Create new layouts and graphics, using Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator to develop new visuals and infographics
  • Support other needs as they arise, leaning in to support the creation of E-learning across other areas of the organization.
  • Identify when external consultant support is needed to build courses, and manage consultants, ensuring their product is high-quality and consistent with other courses; collaborate with and manage vendors (audio talent, copy editors, etc.)
  • Lead the integration of online, in-person, and blended modes of engagement, including formal and informal learning activities and tools for sharing information and collaboration.
  • Leverage input from clients and from key internal stakeholders to inform content decisions and learning experience architecture.
  • Provide guidance to our Technology Team regarding the desired user experience within our learning management system (Docebo) and test the final product within the system before it goes live to our program participants.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with external partners and organizations whose activities and knowledge base could support the improvement of New Leaders’ content.

Build consistent systems and processes for the creation, revision, and publishing of all program content and provide suggestions for improvement, in collaboration with content developers and instructional designers to:

  • Develop and document content production process, in alignment with the processes already established by the Program Design & Leadership Academy Team to allow for course development and constant improvement on efficiency.
  • Build and manage quality assurance processes to ensure produced courses are successful.
  • Serve as a member of a high-quality internal review board to ensure that all developed content consistently meets New Leaders quality for online professional learning and content design.
  • Continuously build content knowledge (through research, collaboration with expert external partners etc.) in leadership competencies in order to produce high-quality professional learning pathways to address partner needs.

Ensure that all final products have a high-quality look and feel and are completed on time.

  • Double check all work for technical accuracy.
  • Ensure that all graphical elements (headers, colors, fonts, etc.) are consistent and on brand.
  • Follow existing style guidelines with accuracy and attention to detail; and identify areas where graphical decisions need to be made.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

  • Demonstrated experience using web-based instructional techniques and tools including Storyline and Captivate.
  • Ability to draft eLearning scripts that demonstrate outstanding writing ability and best practices for adult learning.
  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • 7 or more years of professional experience required.
  • School leadership knowledge and experience preferred.
  • Experience working with Adobe Creative Suite to create custom visuals and infographics.
  • Experience with LMS design and development a plus.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Understanding of adult learning theory and expertise in scripting online tutorials for adult learners.
  • Strong strategic thinking, planning, and project management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work well with people from a wide diversity of demographic and cultural characteristics; must be capable of achieving results while maintaining an inclusive, collaborative leadership style.
  • Demonstrated excellence in relationship management, interpersonal abilities, and oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize, and meet deadlines while working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail, superior organizational skills, time management skills, self-direction, and motivation.
  • Computer proficiency, including MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Internet tools.
