Why we need you:

Guided by our strategic plan, the Consulting Director will provide strategic leadership and oversight of our consulting work.  Your work will incorporate three key drivers: 1) racial equity, 2) thrive, and 3) data; and six priority populations in our work to advance supportive housing solutions throughout the country. Your portfolio will include developing new business in key priorities areas; supporting best practices in project management and consulting; deepening and developing partnerships including with existing and new subcontractors; and working closely with all CSH teams to generate new business, contacts, and products. The Consulting Director will also have some project responsibility to provide technical assistance, training, and capacity-building. The Consulting Director is part of CSH’s Field Operations team and reports within that structure.

 

What you will do:

  • Provide strategic vision and thought leadership to identify, create, broaden, and engage community partners in consulting engagements.
  • Work across CSH teams to provide consulting and project management leadership and support including our geographically based teams, Fund Development, and other national teams.
  • Leverage and partner with CSH’s national program units in pursuit of state and local outcomes.
  • Prepare and monitor individual project budgets, team financials, develop and monitor annual budgets.
  • Craft and implement an annual business development and work plan in partnership with CSH team leads that advances CSH’s broader regional and national goals.
  • Manage internal deployment for staffing projects and subcontractors.
  • Serve as a project manager on various technical assistance, training and/or knowledge sharing projects for supportive housing developers, service providers and policy makers.
  • Represent CSH internally and externally.
  • Proactively seek philanthropic, government or other revenue generating grant or contract opportunities for CSH’s work. Collaborate with our internal teams to develop proposals, scopes of work and budgets to meet annual revenue goals.

Specifically, we are seeking:

  • 7+ years of professional experience, preferably in consulting or affordable/supportive housing fields.
  • Demonstrated leadership, management skills and the high level decision-making necessary to advance and realize CSH’s vision and further advance the CSH’s strategic plan.
  • An understanding of the concepts of institutional and structural racism and bias and their impact on underserved and underrepresented communities.
  • Experience incorporating the perspectives of multiple communities, including communities of color, in the consideration of impacts and outcomes of a decision-making process.
  • Strong analytical, interpersonal, presentation and written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present to diverse audiences, specifically racially, ethnically and socially diverse communities.
  • Demonstrated skills at building high quality teams and project management, including setting performance expectations and managing multiple internal and external priorities.
  • Talent to take initiative to implement projects and pursue goals with moderate supervision.
  • Ability to travel as needed is required. Travel is likely to average about once a month depending on the types of projects assigned.
  • Strong Microsoft Office application skills including Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.
