Full-Time Director-Business Transformational Services – $125K-$205K – DIREC002150

Job Description

Salary range is $125k to $205k, with a midpoint of $165k.  New hires typically receive between minimum and midpoint, however, we may go slightly higher based on experience, internal equity and market.

GENERAL PURPOSE:  

Under general direction, designs and manages a transformation suite of services and executes critical change initiatives. Serves as strategic advisor and connection between business units, business architecture and IT strategies. Drives and improves on business capabilities, facilitates and supports agency governance efforts and processes, manages program/project portfolio within the Business Transformation Services domain and partners with leaders across the agency to solve organizational challenges, utilizing standard process improvement and change management techniques.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

The following duties are a representative summary of the primary duties and responsibilities. Incumbent(s) may not be required to perform all duties listed and may be required to perform additional, position-specific duties.

• Designs and manages a portfolio of services to include process design, improvement and change management techniques. Tracks and improves the portfolio of services in order to drive effectiveness.

• Act as strategic advisor on projects and work streams within larger efforts, leveraging expertise to inspire a sense of shared purpose as one ST.

• Build and foster relationships with departments and divisions to scale transformation strength and impact towards organizational goals.

• Facilitates cross-functional teams on transformation projects and management system processes, which includes serving as a project manager and facilitator to support an agency wide shift in how work is done end-to-end.

• Builds capability within the team and larger organization to support business process re-engineering, business process modeling and data analysis to examine end-to-end business processes to improve efficiency.

• Partners with other units to ensure close alignment of the agency’s programs that foster process and change improvements.

• Conduct presentations to large and executive audiences to include reports and other information that facilitates decision-making.

• Champions and models Sound Transit’s core values and demonstrates values-based behaviors in everyday interactions across the agency.

• Contributes to a culture of diversity, equity and inclusion in alignment with Sound Transit’s Equity & Inclusion Policy.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in planning, business administration, operations management or closely related field and eight years of experience in business process management or management consulting (internal/external), facilitation of teams and process improvement principles in a medium to large organization; six years of leadership, budgetary, planning and workforce management experience and experience leading internal/external consulting teams in area of focus and development of programs; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Ability to develop efficient and effective solutions to diverse and complex business problems.

• Collaborates across multiple stakeholder groups to define and support the delivery and continuous improvement of responsive and flexible services and solutions.

• Innovative/Change agent. Experiments with new concepts and approaches. Comes up with creative solutions to difficult problems and understands the intersection of process and technology with business needs driving results and trust.

• Demonstrated continuous improvement and culture of service oriented mindset.

Physical Demands / Work Environment:  

• Work is performed in a standard office environment.

• Subject to standing, walking, bending, reaching, stooping, and lifting of objects up to 25 pounds; may occasionally be exposed to dangerous machinery when visiting job sites during construction and when working in the field.
