Budgeted Salary: $50,000 – $55,000, DOE

Scope of Position

The Digital Marketing & UX Designer works within the DMA’s Marketing and Communications Department alongside a team of creative, communications, and marketing strategists to drive awareness of the Museum, its mission and offerings across a range of media and platforms. The position reports to the Creative Director and specifically supports the development of engaging digital marketing products and experiences to reach audiences online and in digital formats, enhance customer experience, and strengthen the DMA brand.

Essential Functions

Conceptualizes and delivers innovative design solutions for a wide variety of digital formats, including, but not limited to, emails, landing pages, mobile, microsites, responsive interactive assets, social media, and other interactive experiential solutions
Develops high level, user-centric mock-ups and prototypes to effectively communicate iterative interactive design ideas and functionally sound solutions
Delivers work that is user-friendly, aesthetically engaging, and which also produces measured results
Applies knowledge and expertise of usability principles and usability testing techniques to refine products before delivery
Maintains web standards and shares best practices for web-based information architecture and design
Manages communication among project teams and stakeholders to keep all apprised of schedules and any developments over the course of the project life cycle, as needed
Collaborates with greater creative teams within the Museum in the development of digital assets for institutional campaigns and initiatives
Presents design work to multiple teams and senior leadership for review and feedback
Assists in the development, evolution, and stewardship of the Museum’s visual identity standards and guidelines


Education, Certification, and Experience

2-5 years of demonstrated work experience as a designer focused on developing digital products, UX/UI; online portfolio required; in-house or agency experience preferred
Degree in web design, interaction design, graphic design, visual communication, or another related field preferred
Proficiency with HTML5 and/or CSS required
Expert proficiency with wireframing and prototyping tools (Sketch, Balsamiq, Axure, InVision), as well as Adobe Creative Suite applications xD, Illustrator, and Photoshop required; additional experience in, Premier Pro, After Effects, or other video and motions graphics applications a plus
Experience with Mailchimp and/or other email marketing platforms
Experience with content management systems Drupal and WordPress required

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

Deadline-driven and works well with tight deadlines in a team environment
Strong organizational, problem solving, and time-management skills
Strong knowledge of usability principles and techniques
Highly conceptual with an elevated sense of design, layout and typography
Self-directed and able to take projects from start to finish with minimal oversight
Must be flexible and comfortable with continuously changing priorities
Must be able to multi-task and manage multiple projects at once while keeping on track to meet deadlines
Excellent presentation and storytelling skills
Must have strong interpersonal skills in order to communicate effectively with vendors and internal stakeholder groups
