This role will identify and cultivate individual donors in New York city to meet annual fundraising goals, driving events and generating leads to grow The Phoenix’s footprint in this new area. The ideal candidate will understand the fundraising landscape of New York city and either live in the city or be willing to travel there frequently.   • Perform prospect research on foundations, corporations, and potential donors to identify new funding opportunities, cultivate and maintain positive relationships with high-capacity supporters, and secure at least $200K as an individual contributor to regional fundraising goals
  • Cultivate and maintain positive relationships with high-value donors, elected officials, and media outlets
  • In partnership with the East Coast Development Team and National Development Team, help create and execute a comprehensive fundraising strategy
  • Plan and coordinate local fundraising events and campaigns
  • Contribute as a member of the organization’s Development Team, including participating in weekly calls and meetings and contributing to national development initiatives
  • Work with Grants Managers to oversee grants pipeline for NYC and support grant-writing efforts as needed
  • Oversee all donor relations, including Salesforce tracking, gift acknowledgement, etc.
  • Work evening and weekend hours as needed
  • Travel 20-40% depending on location
  • Complete other duties as assigned


  • 2+ years of fundraising or relevant relationship-building experience
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills, professionalism, and the ability to quickly adapt to change
  • Proficiency with software including Salesforce or other CRM, word processing, spreadsheet applications, and email
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to relate to people from all walks of life
  • Entrepreneurial spirit, humility, and integrity

  • Lived experience as a peer in recovery
  • Fundraising certificates
