Job description

We are currently recruiting for several Senior Inventory Accountant posts in our Finance and Accounting team. These posts all offer the opportunity to join DE&S at a Senior level, with the development and progression opportunities that we are well known for. As a Senior Inventory Accountant you will lead the business unit and to plan and manage a programme of work to deliver the analysis and financial accounting of inventory consumption.

Responsibilities

As a Senior Inventory Accountant you will lead the business unit and to plan and manage a programme of work to deliver the analysis and financial accounting of inventory consumption and stock movements, the scrutiny and challenge of the monthly inventory forecast and to ensure compliance with Inventory policies and procedures in accordance with the DE&S Business Management System.

Key deliverables associated with these demands include:

– Maintaining the integrity of the accounts through exercising Internal and system controls.
– Supporting customers across Domains, providing inventory system support as well as training on the financial implications of incorrect classifications.
– Responsibility for the DE&S wide Item Data Record Dashboard.
– Provision of NAO sample reviews of Delivery Teams and/or Domains.

To be successful:

– You must be a qualified accountant (CCAB, CIMA or International equivalent), with full membership (with letters) of the relevant accounting body.
– You must have extensive experience in inventory accounting, presenting financial information and public sector accounting.
– You will be an experienced leader, who can work on their own initiative and will be able to demonstrate exposure to senior stakeholders and ownership.
– Previous management experience will be crucial as will experience working within large, complex organisations, or Government.
– In person, you will be a committed and forward-thinking individual, driven to succeed and add value in your role. An engaging and enthusiastic personality will enable you to build relationships and experience of challenging and managing conflicting priorities will certainly lead to your success.
