We at DE&S are seeking talented Land Systems Engineers to join us, and are offering opportunities to work across a breadth of projects from Remote Control Vehicles (RCV) to infantry fighting vehicles, to Challenger 2 Tanks!

As our Systems Engineer you will be critical to ensuring that the armed forces can operate in the most demanding environments, providing engineering support and working closely with our industry partners to keep our front line capabilities in-service across the globe.

Your engineering background and technical problem solving skills will aid our teams across the complete project lifecycle (Concept, Assessment, Demonstration, Manufacture, In-service and Disposal), where you will be responsible for providing technical guidance, safety advice and risk management.

Please note, that due to the nature of the projects involved, some of these roles may require UK Nationals.

Responsibilities

You will provide technical leadership in your specialist area to solve complex problems with innovative solutions, supporting improved performance and enhanced capability. In some cases, you will be working across several platforms concurrently, prioritising outputs to complete milestones on time.

You will manage the delivery of all engineering aspects in your area of responsibility, some of which may include; failure investigation, technical documentation, obsolescence management, Post Design Services action and completing engineering reviews.

Your knowledge of procurement will aid you to support new acquisition/procurement with tasks such as requirements generation and capture, tender preparation, tender evaluation, engineering reviews, test and acceptance.

You will monitor and implement any governance and assurance policies and procedures to ensure the ‘safe & professional’ status of the area led.
You will interface with industry as our intelligent customer both in a scrutiny role and supporting the identification of application risks
You will produce Engineering Artefacts in order to support Business Case submissions and assurance reviews
As our Land Systems Engineer, you could be working on a variety of low to high value projects in teams such as:

Vehicle Support Team (VST) – supporting over 37000 in-service vehicles across 30+ different platforms from main battle tanks to lightweight patrol vehicles.

The Land Concept and Assessments (LCA) Team – managing requirements setting, engineering de-risking and capability evaluation elements of projects.

Soldier, Training and Special Projects (STSP) providing engineering support for a varied portfolio of mobility platforms and Remote Control Vehicles both In-service and new acquisition/procurement.

What you will be assessed against
To be found successful you must demonstrate the following essential criteria:
• Demonstrable knowledge and experience of having worked with mechanical/automotive and/or electrical/electronic systems
• Wide ranging depth and breadth of technical experience in own specialism with knowledge and application of Systems Engineering approaches.
• Knowledge of engineering safety and ability to support production of safety artefacts.
• Experience of working with multiple stakeholders.

It would benefit your application should you be able to demonstrate the following desirable criteria:
• An understanding of Ordnance Munitions and Explosives (OME).
• Experience of Military Land Equipment’s
• Knowledge of procurement process
