Corporate Services offers a challenging and stimulating variety of work in both delivery and support teams. The function utilises the expertise of eight specialisms that collectively enable the operational day-to-day running of the business to ensure that Defence Equipment and Support (DE&S) delivers its objectives and maintains compliance with the requirements of being part of a Department of State. We cover: Business Support; Comms, Media & Marketing; Infrastructure & Estate Management; Policy Profession; Sales & Disposals; Occupational Health, Safety & Environment; Quality Management; and Security.

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Business Support Administrator, to join Defence Equipment and Support (DE&S) in Bicester, working in Business Management and/or Sales and Disposals. As a Business Support Administrator, you will enjoy a varied role providing a wide range of essential services and support across all the Specialisms within the Corporate Services Group in particular within Digital, supporting with succession planning, and other general day to day admin. You will be responsible for supporting in the delivery of the day-to-day provision of business support services, supporting senior Business Managers with the delivery of various activities, administration and managing internal and external queries. You will work with a range of stakeholders both internally to Defence and external customers and companies and may be. You could be raising electronic requests to meet IT needs, be assisting with internal and external online media connections for meetings, providing IT support for the new Sales and Management System and assisting staff as appropriate with IT needs.

You may also be supporting the Sales and Disposals team, supporting leads with their individual sales processes, with admin on sales projects and with marketing of equipment. You could be supporting sales colleagues with negotiations in conjunction with the commercial officers and Provide support to the Commodity Section, by processing declarations, providing specialist advice to senior management, and utilise the Disposals Database (eDART) to provide a prompt and efficient disposal service provision.


Responsibilities will include (but not be limited to):

• Deliver administrative support across specialisms as instructed and contained within the CSG Catalogue of Services and assignment specifications.
• Act as a key point of contact for internal and external specialism requests, providing advice and guidance, escalating to more senior colleagues where appropriate.
• Own logistical elements of activities and events such as arranging travel, booking venues or coordinating visits
• Support internal communications such as updating internal websites, distributing key information and acting as a focal point for other internal communications
• Manage document production, processing and maintenance as instructed e.g. any relevant papers for meetings, administration of hard copy classified documents, processing security clearance documents etc.

What you will be assessed against

To be successful with your application you must demonstrate that you meet the following essential criteria:

• Experience of working within an administrative role
• Experience of working with a team and with stakeholders or senior staff
• Excellent and demonstrable IT skills particularly Microsoft Office
• Excellent written and verbal communicator
• Educated to GCSE standard or equivalent

It would benefit your application if you be able to demonstrate the following desirable criteria:

• Experience of working previously in Business Management or Business Support
• Effective decision making and negotiation skills.
