Full-Time Deputy Director, Major Gifts (West) (Remote)

SUMMARY: 

 

In collaboration with the Vice President of Development, the Deputy Director, Major Gifts (West) will manage a portfolio of current individual and foundation funders and prospects in the West Coast, by designing and developing solicitation strategies; identifying new funding opportunities; and personally soliciting gifts and continually stewarding major gift donors.

This is a fully remote position with no location requirement, but a strong preference for candidates who are based in the Bay Area, California. We encourage candidates from all locations within the United States to apply.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Secure Major Gifts: Manage a portfolio of current and prospective major gift donors and donor advisors by developing and implementing cultivation and solicitation strategies. 
  • Identify, Cultivate and Steward Donors/Prospects: Identify major gift prospects and develop compelling engagement strategies to solicit and close gifts as outlined above. 
  • Prospect Pipeline: Build a strong pipeline of prospects in the Western region. 
  • Travel: Conduct personal visits with major donors and prospects for the purpose of field research, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship. 
  • Report and Database Management: Prepare written proposals, gift agreements in collaboration with NGA’s Finance team, donor collateral, and other materials needed to define, secure and document major gifts.
  • Effectively utilize Salesforce to maintain records of contacts with donors and prospects; conduct donor research to target appropriate givers and their capacity; and track, evaluate and present relevant information.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

 

  • 5-7 years of experience in development, advancement, or fundraising positions, with demonstrated success at nonprofit or political organizations.
  • Proven track record of closing major gifts in the range of five+ figures. 
  • Ability to establish, cultivate and steward strong professional relationships with stakeholders to build lifelong partnerships and trust.
  • Innovative, self-motivated, able to manage multiple projects well, working both independently and as a team member.
  • Commitment to representing NGA with enthusiasm, warmth, and professionalism.
  • Strong organizational, strategic, and analytical skills, ability to manage and prioritize numerous projects while clearly measuring performance and meeting goals and deadlines.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, do-it-yourself, start-up environment and calmly switch gears when priorities/objectives change.
  • Collaborative problem solver with a can-do attitude and ability to foster a cooperative, team-oriented work environment.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Comfortable working remotely in a highly collaborative distributed workforce setting.

 

COMPENSATION:

Salary range for this position is $92,000-$98,000, compensation will be based on experience. NextGen America also offers a very comprehensive benefits package.
