Full-Time Deputy Director – Change Assurance & Investment

Job Description

What will you do? 

This an exciting opportunity to work at the corporate centre of HMRC to help deliver major digital transformation changes that will shape the way we serve our customers.

We’re looking for someone with a strong track-record in delivering large and complex programmes, good experience of investment appraisal, and who can lead and motivate others.

The role requires collaborative working right across HMRC and comes with opportunities for regular contact with senior members of HMRC.

 

How will you add value to the role? 

  • Proven leadership experience of building, motivating and inspiring diverse teams
  • A successful track record of leading and delivering large-scale transformation programmes
  • Demonstrable experience of programme assurance and governance at senior levels
  • Understanding central government investment appraisal and approvals policy and process
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, able to influence at all levels
  • A strategic thinker, able to draw together complex issues, analyse data and implement practical solutions
  • Proven ability to analyse and present complex information succinctly to a senior audience

 

Essential Academic / Professional Qualifications

Senior qualifications in programme and portfolio management and in change leadership e.g.

  • Major Programme Leadership Academy (MPLA)
  • Programme Delivery Leadership Academy (PDLA)

 

What will you be part of?

You’ll lead a central team of about 30 programme management and Investment Appraisal professionals that oversee HMRC’s change portfolio, providing assurance and challenge at programme and portfolio levels.

You’ll work with change delivery teams to ensure strategic alignment, propriety, regularity, deliverability and value for money of each proposition and in turn their business cases.

You’ll also be responsible for ensuring the appropriate governance is applied to approvals within HMRC and by HM Treasury and by various groups in the Cabinet Office.
