Full-Time Database Specialist I (Remote)

Job Description

This position will manage existing database systems, deploy new databases and database systems, and develop new code for use by database systems. Will also be responsible for monitoring for outages, troubleshooting existing outages, and performing root cause analysis for issues, including devising solutions and implementing changes to improve stability. Will also perform querying and reporting to support business units. This role is expected to understand and troubleshoot issues as they occur within an isolated system, and is expected to participate in troubleshooting of integrated systems as their knowledge and experience grows.

What you will do to contribute to the company’s success

Set forth below is a list of the essential duties and responsibilities (or “essential functions”) of this position.

Deploy, analysis, testing and support is 70% of the expected responsibility.

  • Examines, evaluates, troubleshoots, database systems deployed to SQL Server/Oracle
  • Knowledge of SQL SSRS concepts, Database, Azure, strong relational database concepts, SQL & TQL concepts, SSIS package concepts, GIT, DevOps (Preferred), Oracle, Remedy, AD, Microsoft / 2 years exp working in industry
  • Query troubleshooting and development for database processes
  • Maintains and troubleshoots systems such as applications (custom and 3rd party), reports and/or database logic
  • Design and develop database code and scripts in combination with software development processes and teams
  • Provides support and general maintenance and support of third-party applications including communications with vendors
  • Manages and troubleshoots support tickets related to database systems, or escalated by other teams for suspected database-related issues
  • Provide monitoring, troubleshooting and resolution of issues escalated from other organizations within Cable On
  • Create user accounts and manage permissions as needed

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university (Preferred); or two years related experience and/or training in database design, database development, and reporting (Strongly Preferred); or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public
  • Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.
  • Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Must be a self-starter with sound problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Must be flexible and a team player.
  • Position will require up to 10% travel
