Full-Time Database Administrator/Developer

Job Description

Clark College is currently accepting applications for a full-time, 12-month, exempt Database Administrator/Developer position in the Information Technology (IT) department. This position is responsible to develop and maintain a secure and efficient SQL Server environment and manage the data processes including ETL and data warehouse, serving the data requirements of the college community. This position will also collaborate with IT staff (Application Development and Infrastructure) and other college partners to provide data support to the college.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Design, develop, test, implement and maintain databases in MS SQL Server database environments.

Configure and maintain database servers and processes, including monitoring of system health and performance, to ensure high levels of performance, availability, and security.

Ensure systems meet industry best practices and business, security, privacy, and retention requirements.

Design and deploy complex ETL solutions and provide maintenance, troubleshooting, support, and performance improvements for various data sources, including Oracle databases.

Design, create and maintain middle tier / application server / application development interface (API) for accessing data, reconfigurations of existing data, and datasets.

Design, develop and maintain on-premises and cloud-based data structures such as data marts, data warehouses, data lakes, and data pipelines.

Create various complex SQL Queries, Stored Procedures, Views, Cursors and User Defined Functions to implement the business logic.

Collaborate with Application Development and other college partners to provide database setup, configuration, optimization, and modification support to college staff.

Write Business Intelligence reports.

Optimize and tune queries for performance.

Refine and automate regular processes.

Ensure all database programs meet the college’s security and performance requirements.

Remain current on data architecture, analytics, and data science developments.

Develop technical documentation and training manuals.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Science, Technology, Engineering & Math (STEM), or relevant analytical field.

Five (5) years’ experience with DBA, SQL development and ETL implementation.

Advanced knowledge of database security, backup and recovery, replication, and performance monitoring standards.

Extensive experience with Microsoft SQL Server and coding techniques to write views, stored procedures, and functions.

Comprehensive data warehouse analysis and design experience, with full knowledge of data warehouse methodologies, ODS, ETL/ELT process, and data modeling.

Experience in working with Microsoft SQL Server BI stack including SSAS, SSIS, and SSRS with SQL Server Data Tool (SSDT).

Experience developing, architecting, and deploying data warehouses with Microsoft SQL Server.

Experience developing ETL processes with Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services packages.

Experience with Performance Tuning and Optimization.

Demonstrated ability to understand, discuss and document complex data models.

Effective oral, written communication skills and strong analytical problem-solving capabilities.

Effective communication skills to facilitate gathering and understanding requirements from business groups.

Motivated to learn new skills and technologies.

Ability to work well with people of all ages from academically, culturally, and socioeconomically diverse backgrounds.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with Oracle.

Experience implementing ETL processes using Python.

Experience with data visualization development, preferably using Tableau.

 

Salary Statement: $81,365/annually
