Job Description

Position Title: Database Administrator/Data Analyst

Reports to:      Sr. Database Administrator/Data Analytics

FLSA Status:    Non-Exempt

 

Position Summary: The Database Administrator/Data Analyst is responsible for assisting the Sr. DBA in the planning, development and project management of the data analytics and reporting infrastructure of APICHA; for reviewing and enforcing information technology policies and procedures to ensure system integrity and data security; for collaborating with other departments in evaluating and implementing new technologies to ensure the overall reporting needs of Apicha are met

The major duties of the position include, but are not limited to:

Data Analytics and Reporting

  • Under director of the Sr. Database Administrator, oversee all data analytics and reporting activities at Apicha.
  • Develop, design and generate needed reports to support Apicha’s strategic, regulatory and operational goals and requirements (ie: UDS, Ryan White, Clinical Operations reports, etc).

Collaboration

  • Assist in building relationships with vendors and creating cost-efficient contracts specific to reporting and data analytics.
  • Collaborate with various internal staff to provide meaningful information to assist in business strategy and reporting
  • Keep informed on the business requirements of all APICHA departments in terms of reporting and data analytics.
  • Be a liaison for data with staff, as directed by the Sr. Database Administrator
  • Be able to translate complex IT terminology to users or all background.

Compliance

  • Execute IT policies and systems to support the implementation of strategies set by APICHA Senior management around reporting.
  • Monitor the access of data and applications to ensure security and efficiency.
  • Identify the need for upgrades or new reporting tools and report to APICHA Senior IT management.

 

System Maintenance

  • Manage, Develop and maintain the Apicha enterprise Data Warehouse(s) and all sources of data that comprise it.

 

Self Development

  • Keep current on changes and tools and technology germane to APICHA from a reporting and data analytics perspective.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science/MIS (or 2-5 years of equivalent relevant work experience with a minimum of a High School diploma).
  • 5+ years of professional experience working in an information technology division/department, including reporting and data analytics, and privacy practices. Experience working in a Healthcare environment strongly
  • 2+ years of experience working with national and international regulatory compliance frameworks such as ISO, SOX, HIPAA/HITECH (strongly preferred), PCI etc.
  • 2+ years’ experience in SQL reporting.
  • An ability to cultivate and build collaborative working relationships with a broad range of enterprise stakeholders.
  • Strong decision-making capabilities, with a proven ability to weigh the relative costs and benefits of potential actions and identify the most appropriate one.
  • Understanding of security in Cloud environments and a demonstrated understanding of the technical aspects of information security. Familiarity working in an environment that supports an EHR (eClinicalWorks specifically), strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge of current practices and technologies in data and analytics infrastructure, such as SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, Postgress, Access, NoSQL, Hadoop, Amazon Aurora and the like.
  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge of database server administration, server virtualization, storage virtualization, and technical knowledge of Data Warehousing concepts such as Extraction, Transformation and Loading.
  • Has strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
  • Understanding of security requirements in a Healthcare setting
  • Ability to work in diverse cultural environment in professional manner required.
  • Willing to work night and/or weekends as needed.
  • Willing to commute in multiple sites of organization and off-site meetings as needed.
