JOB FAMILY DESCRIPTION

Works with loan-level data, to normalize, aggregate, and produce data products. Responsibilities include working with data contributors to enhance their submissions by exposing and alleviating data issues to ensure data quality; expanding field coverage, and being the go-to source for data questions that arise. Will also be working with customers to dev elop data use cases, research and new products from the loan-level data that will support our clients in making important business decisions based on this analysis and findings.

GENERAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for analyzing, testing, and calibrating data.
  • Works closely with Research and Development on the application and product development of financial tools. Provides consulting and analysis to clients using these tools.
  • Demonstrates analysis and findings to customers and clients to develop use cases.
  • Assess the computing needs and system requirements by consulting with users, management, technicians, and vendors.
  • Use one or more analytical tools from a suite of mathematical/application tools to perform appropriate analysis on specified product, transaction, market activity, or investment vehicle that has multiple variables affecting potential outcomes.
  • Perform ad hoc analyses as needed and assist managers of specific product lines with analytical projects.
  • Propose new risk indicators for management approval and implementation.
  • Assist with consulting with the business owners, designing and implementing an interface to record key indicators, research industry best practices of analyzing and reporting key performance indicators.
  • Design test cases and test applications for systems used for a variety of analytical business needs.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATIONAL GUIDELINES

Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Finance or the equivalent combination of education, training, or work experience. Master’s degree is preferred for senior level roles.

GENERAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Extensive knowledge of financial theory and the behavior of various financial markets
  • Experience in SQL, Python and R
  • Understanding of financial/loan data (mortgage & credit card would be ideal)
  • Ability to translate business needs into technical solutions
  • Advanced skills in Excel and other MS Office applications
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to apply to practical applications
  • Team player with the willingness to collaborate with other technical and non-technical partners
  • Client focused approach with strong interpersonal skills
  • Experiences with business intelligence tools and reporting software (PowerBI, Tableau, etc.)
  • Excellent oral, presentation and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and problem solving ability
  • Effective organizational and negotiation skills
  • Ability to successfully network with other departments where necessary

Financial Engineering Consultant I

Entry-level role into the job family. Works with financial models of some complexity using advanced mathematical, analytical or econometric tools. Defines and discerns key aspects of problems that require intricate analysis and research, and develops moderately complex solutions within a broad technical and business context. Functions, somewhat independently, under general direction of more senior Financial Engineers or management. Generally works on a small number of projects as a project team member. Typically requires up to three (3) or more years of related work experience in developing mathematical formulas, financial models and computer programs to create complex models of market trends and risks.

Although target pay range may vary by work location, a representative pay range for Colorado residents is: $65,000 – $90,000. Eligible to participate in medical, dental and vision insurance, life insu rance and disability insurance, 401(k) plan and employee stock purchase plan. Eligible to participate in the discretionary annual performance bonus.
