OVERVIEW 

Exemplars in Global Health (“EGH”) is one of these initiatives under incubation. We aim to adapt successful global health solutions to new contexts by conducting research and analysis on positive outliers to improve funding and policy decisions, both internally and externally. After three years of incubation, the program is slated for expansion and scale-up. Our goals are to produce high quality research and to use that research to drive improvements in how policymakers and funders deal with the most pressing global health challenges.  

THE POSITION

The Partnerships & Impact (P&I) Team at Exemplars in Global Health works closely with the Research & Content (R&C) Team to achieve impact through uptake and use of documented best practice to tackle leading global health challenges. In addition to dissemination of research findings and lessons from Exemplar countries, our aim is to foster partnerships to understand how this evidence can best be packaged to support real-time decision-making at the country level. Exemplars in Global Health provides tailored support to aid this process – responding to partner demand across topics and coordinating across the Exemplars in Global Health team and our partners to execute effectively. 

The ideal candidate will bring expertise in strategic engagement at the country level, including experience working with Ministerial leadership as well as large multilaterals (World Bank, WHO, UN) and donors. 

The team member will be supported by one analyst who will drive project management and provide general support. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

The individual taking on this important role will be responsible for a wide range of activities and relationships, including but not limited to: 

Lead cross-topic country engagement strategy and planning 

  • Maintain and grow existing senior government relationships in priority countries, acting as the primary liaison across the EGH team to scope opportunities for collaboration and build country coalitions 
  • Collaborate across EGH team and external partners to identify and engage priority multilateral, donor, and implementing partners at country-level 
  • Lead P&I team efforts to collaborate with regional platforms 
  • Drive efforts across topics on South-South opportunities to draw from Exemplars content and experts to engage in peer-to-peer learnings across countries 
  • Identify new potential partners, dissemination opportunities, and deeper collaboration opportunities at country level 
  • Ensure healthy demand pipeline for use and adaptation of EGH content at country-level 
  • Drive content creation, engagement strategies, and partner updates for both internal leadership and external partner meetings 

Lead refinement and standardization of country engagement operational models 

  • Evaluate and enhance client satisfaction to ensure learnings are used to refine and improve future partnerships and engagement 
  • Drive standardization and efficiencies across our partner engagement and collaborations 

Coordinate execution of cross-topic collaborations at country-level 

  • Track and monitor engagement activities across topic teams in priority countries, identifying and exploring opportunities for collaboration. Support with triage where needed. 
  • Oversee cross-topic coordination for priority countries, working closely with relevant EGH topic teams and partners to execute effectively 
  • Drive alignment and regular feedback mechanisms 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5-10+ years of experience in a global health research, policy, or development-focused consulting at a leading organization, Masters or other advanced degree preferred  
  • Working proficiency in French – strongly preferred 
  • Prior experience in: 
    • Direct country engagement experience in sub-Saharan Africa and/or India – essential 
    • Management consulting / advisory services – strongly preferred 
    • Global health strategy, technical assistance, policy, and/or advocacy – strongly preferred 
    • Start-ups / scaling new ventures – nice to have
  • Track record of: 
    • Leading high-performing teams to hit aggressive goals 
    • Cultivating strong relationships with clients, particularly ministries of health 
    • Increasing responsibility in complex environments 
    • Effectively balancing multiple priorities on tight timelines 
    • Designing and executing new ideas
