Full-Time Corporate Development Director

Job Description

We are looking for a talented Corporate Development Director to join our Corp Dev team specializing in business strategy to grow and optimize our business for Cummins in Indianapolis, IN. This role is hybrid and can work from your home office with travel to Indianapolis along with business travel.

 

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

* Supports a variety of business strategy and development projects through qualitative and quantitative business analysis; projects may be within a business unit, across multiple business units, involve an acquisition, the development of an equity alliance, or the creation of a joint venture.

* This position is expected to be able to lead cross functional projects and manage teams under tight deadlines. Act as a functional expert in mergers & acquisitions for the broader business and facilitate discussions with Cummins (CMI) executive team.

* Provide insights to inform CMI’s strategic objectives while proactively developing opportunities to meet those objectives (e.g., identification of acquisition opportunities, portfolio optimization, etc.).

* Lead all aspects of projects associated with acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures, and other transactions including but not limited to: development and support of strategic rationales; detailed financial modeling and analysis; overall project management including planning and timelines; development of detailed materials for senior leadership review gates; presentation of materials to Cummins executive team; management of internal stakeholders and functional areas to ensure alignment; coordination and communication (including negotiation) with external parties and advisors.

* Prioritize work streams and outstanding projects for team members and direct reports in order to meet deadlines.

 

To be successful in this role you will need the following:

* Demonstrated success in running projects/deals (M&A, valuations, negotiations, due diligence, etc.)

* Communicates effectively – develops and delivers multi-mode communications that convey a clear understanding of the unique needs of different audiences.

* Balancing stakeholders – anticipates and balances the needs of multiple stakeholders.

* Transaction structure formulation – leads work cross functionally in close collaboration with Legal, Tax, and Treasury to determine the best legal entity structure, governance mechanisms, and transaction structures to achieve Cummins’ objectives in a given transaction.

 

Education/Experience

* Bachelor’s degree – Finance, Accounting, Business, Strategy or related field required.

* MBA preferred

* CPA and/or CFA preferred

* 7 or more years of experience in corporate development, investment banking or transaction advisory services.

 

Compensation and Benefits

 

Base salary rate commensurate with experience. Additional benefits vary between locations and include options such as our 401(k) Retirement Savings Plan, Cash Balance Pension Plan, Medical/Dental/Life Insurance, Health Savings Account, Domestic Partners Coverage and a full complement of personal and professional benefits.
