The Controller, under the general supervision of the Director of Financial Services, performs complex financial reconciliations and analysis related to general accounting, financial reporting, and capital accounting. The Controller is responsible for college accounting functions including recording of financial transactions in an accurate and timely manner, financial planning and reporting, cash management, cashier operations, and accounts payable/receivable. This position is also responsible for audit compliance, local and state reporting, and banking relationships. This is a contracted exempt position that reports to the Director of Financial Services.


• Manage the college accounting functions and activities including general ledger accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, grant and contract accounting, and fixed assets.

• Assist in preparing financial statements in accordance with guidelines established by the State Auditor’s Office (SAO), staying abreast of changes in GAAP and GASB pronouncements as they relate to the financial statements.

• Manage the maintenance of an effective system of internal control and/or documentation to provide reasonable assurance that risk assessments and necessary evaluative processes have been performed yearly.

• Manage the fiscal and accounting system controls to meet standards and requirements of state, federal and other organizations.

• Supervises accounts payable staff – performing all supervisory functions which include, but are not limited to, employee performance management, team building, hiring and training.

• Manage the college physical inventory and fixed assets accounting.

• Recommend and implement fiscal policies and procedures representing best business practices in accounting functions utilizing relevant technological changes to enhance productivity and reporting.

• Perform month-end and year-end close accounting processes

• Interpret state and federal regulations and determine appropriate procedures for compliance and implementation.

• Coordinate and communicate fiscal procedures and determine methods for improving procedures and services.

• Perform other related duties as assigned.


• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a closely related field.

• Four (4) years of full-time experience in an accounting department.

• Two (2) years full-time supervisory experience.

• Must be self-starter with analytical mindset.

• Ability to pay strong attention to detail.

• Ability to independently research and resolve accounting, budgeting and forecasting issues.

• Ability to collaborate and/or work with staff with diverse backgrounds.


Compensation & Work Schedule

Salary is $8,167 per month. This is a full-time, 40 hours per week position. Occasional early morning, evening and weekend hours may be required. This position does offer work-from-home/hybrid schedule. On campus required will be determined with the supervisor.
