Full-Time Content Marketing Lead

Job Description

DELVE is looking for a Content Marketing Lead to install and lead a best practices content marketing team to generate measurable brand awareness, lead generation, and customer engagement. You will be responsible for planning, developing and implementing the company’s overall content marketing strategy as well as managing daily creation, production and distribution of online and offline marketing content. The content marketing team will engage and grow our audiences across email, social media, and other channels to support thought leadership, sales enablement, and demand generation.

This role is a hybrid, combining content marketing strategy, content marketing management and content editor tasks. To get the job done, you will lead a combination of in-house writers, creative production and audience development specialists as well as coordinate freelancers and industry influencers to create audience-relevant content that is optimized for search engines. Content types include, but are not limited to: articles, videos, presentations, podcasts, reports, case studies, Infographics, webinars, and blog posts.

You are a storyteller with a publisher mindset, able to position our company as a trusted analytics and digital media advisor to marketing, e-commerce, and line-of-business leaders. You know the difference between selling products versus selling outcomes. You understand that buyers want to be educated, not sold. You are skilled at simplifying complex topics so that content speaks to audiences, not past them.


Tasks and Responsibilities That You Will Perform

  • Content Marketing Strategy: create a content strategy to support business objectives (thought leadership, lead generation, sales enablement). The strategy should include: SMART goals, budget, content types, topic/channel/audience alignment, paid promotion, and execution timeline.
  • Editorial Calendar: Daily management our content editorial calendar and direction of content producers (internal staff, freelancers) to deliver against deadlines and quality standards.
  • Content Editor: final review of all content to ensure SEO optimization, proper structure, and consistent brand voice, style and tone.
  • Content Creation: hands-on responsibility for on-time delivery of all content creation and establishing the necessary workflows and content tools for delivery, and leading in-house and freelance staff.
  • Content Creation: daily review of targeted 3rd party thought leadership sources and selection of content that aligns to DELVE POV for reposting or reference citing.
  • Content Distribution & Audience Development: directing channel management of digital content hubs and all supporting social channels, including email/newsletter distribution. This includes basic content best practices on each social media channel.
  • Content Metrics: develop content metrics, analyze & report performance data, and optimize content to improve results.


Results You Will Deliver

  • Monthly growth of subscriber audiences for email/newsletters, social media, blog, podcast, LinkedIn, video channels, etc.
  • Monthly increase in content engagement (views, downloads, RSS, email/social sharing, social mentions, etc.)
  • Ongoing improvements in SEO keyword ranking attributed to organic content (on-site, off-site)
  • Monthly increase in website referral traffic from off-site contributed content
  • Monthly generation of sales leads via content assisted-attribution


Skills/Experience You Will Need

  • Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Public Relations, or Marketing/Business.
  • 5-7 years of experience in digital publishing or content marketing – preferably in Technology, Digital Consulting, or a related industry with complex sales cycles
  • Experience creating content for the web and growing social audiences.
  • Experience creating relevant messages for multiple target audiences, channels and buyer journey stages that result in engagement and conversion
  • Experience directing/managing freelance writers and media production staff
  • Experience collaborating with sales professionals to develop sales enablement content (collateral, video training, etc.)
  • Skilled storyteller across multiple mediums: video, podcast, PDF, web.
  • Fastidious and effective project management skills to manage editorial schedules and deadlines, while delivering results (engagement, leads, sales).
  • Proficient user of Google Docs and Google Analytics (e.g. path goals, content groupings, MCF)
  • Proficient user of content editorial calendar, content curation, and content production tools (e.g. DivvyHQ, Curata, CoSchedule) or similar
  • Proficiency using Prezi, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar tools a plus
