Full-Time Communications Director

We act as a catalyst, connecting visual storytellers, communities and media organizations to represent and bring about solutions to urgent social issues. We support emerging talents and leaders in the field of visual storytelling to meaningfully engage audiences and push innovation in the field. 

 

CatchLight seeks a Communications Director who is responsible for establishing communication strategies and overseeing its implementation.

 

Duties:

  • Set strategy for CatchLight communication to grow audiences
  • Set newsletter content strategy and tone. Write weekly to biweekly newsletters.
  • Managing external communication channels like social media platforms, company websites and media relations, writing copy for newsletters and adhering to the company’s brand by publishing content and marketing materials.
  • As needed, managing and coordinating contractors and/or staff to manage social media platforms, company websites and copy for newsletters.
  • Collaborate with other teams to identify the public voice of the brand
  • Create style guides and brand voice outlines for all public relations, marketing, advertising and other vital departments.
  • Assist publicist in drafting press releases 
  • Communicate with media outlets and journalists and create press kits.
  • Work independently and with social media analyst to perform communications research and monitor the progress of various communications strategies.

  • Superior verbal, written, and digital communication skills with experience producing proposals, blogs, press releases, presentations, newsletters, etc.
  • Passion for and understanding of visual culture—visually driven design, production & editing skills: fluency in Adobe Creative Suite and Squarespace a plus
  • Strong understanding of social media platforms and how to create and measure brand awareness.
  • Solid knowledge of SEO, keyword research, and Google Analytics 
  • Collaborative and cooperative work ethic, able to positively engage the entire team to work on complex projects. 
  • Self starter: ability to work independently, take initiative and prioritize tasks.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with a small team.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and “can do” attitude.
  • At least 5 years of experience in communications

This position is exempt, full-time, regular with full benefits. This position reports to the Chief Executive Office. 

 

Salary range for this position is

$80,000-120,000 DOE
