ORAM- Organization for Refuge, Asylum and Migration is looking for a motivated Communications and Development Coordinator

DESCRIPTION
Are you passionate about topics such as migration, refugees and LGBTIQ rights? Do you have experience or a strong interest in international asylum systems and the inclusion and capacity building of marginalized groups? Do you have experience in communications and development for a non-profit organization? Do you have you great attention to detail, creativity and an effective writing style? ORAM advocates for the protection and empowerment of extremely vulnerable refugees and asylum seekers who are fleeing persecution based on sexual orientation and/or gender identity and expression (SOGIE).

About This Role:
The Communications and Development Coordinator implements the organization’s communications and development activities across all of its communications channels and audiences. This includes print and online media, social media, communications and fundraising campaigns, media relations, website management and maintaining donor relations and systems. This position assists senior management in building a strong pipeline of donors through major gifts, sponsorship programs, fundraising events and corporate giving. The Coordinator takes initiative in solving problems, creating systems and generating new ideas for getting things done. This role is also responsible for general administration, managing databases and content, and managing communications and development interns.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties:
Duties include, but may not be limited to, the following:

Communications
• Create and manage the design, content, and production of ORAM’s communications materials
• Write and distribute content, including emails, newsletters, website content, press releases, and other communications and marketing materials
• Develop, implement and manage the organization’s social media strategy and accounts, including creating written and visual content, building a social media presence by maintaining a solid online presence with other organizations and networks, and promoting news and events
• Produce and manage the organization’s online and offline events
• Manage communications data and report to the ORAM team
• Manage and maintain the organization’s website
• Maintain and advance the ORAM brand in all communications
• Respond to media inquiries, arrange interviews and maintain media databases
• Manage, maintain and build the organization’s image and video library

Development
• Create and implement all ORAM fundraising and development campaigns
• Maintain donor relations including communications with existing individual donors and new donor cultivation
• Conduct individual donor and foundation research
• Prepare grant requests
• Draft major donor communications
• Oversee sponsorship follow-up and fulfillment
• Maintain database of national and international foundation funders
• Report on donor fundraising
• Produce the organization’s fundraising events
Administration
• Support and maintain ORAM’s online databases
• Conduct general administration activities as needed

DESIRED SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS

Desired Skills include, but may not be limited to, the following:

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
• Five or more years’ experience in communications and/or development
• A passion for social justice and a commitment to human rights for all people
• Knowledge of and experience working on LGBTIQ issues
• Knowledge of issues facing asylum seekers and refugees
• Experience creating and implementing engaging communications campaigns
• Experience creating and implementing effective fundraising campaigns
• Experience with donor management tools and donor programs
• Strong grasp of social media management and campaign development
• Experience with:
– Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Flash, Acrobat)
– Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube for business, and social media management/monitoring tools;
– Website maintenance, specifically Wix
– Mailchimp (other database skills a plus);
– Content design using programs like Canva
• Exceptional verbal communication skills in English
• Excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills, including a strong ability to write concise and compelling narratives
• Ability to multitask and work both independently and collaboratively across teams with multiple stakeholders in different locations and time zones
• Quick learner and tech savvy and able to function in a fully remote team environment
• Energy, enthusiasm, and a good sense of humor
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Fluency in Spanish a plus
• Photography and video creation and editing skills are a plus
