Location:                    Remote possible, but periodic travel to SF Bay Area required

Pay range:                DOE

We are seeking a Commercial Plant Project Manager to join our energetic, multidisciplinary team as we work to scale up a first-of-its-kind biomanufacturing technology. This position will report to the Chief Technology Officer, work closely with all three of our company founders and will perform all aspects of engineering project management. This is a full-time primarily remote position and will require some travel within or to the San Francisco Bay Area. Want to know more? Keep reading!

 

Background on the company and position:

The company is led by a technically oriented team – five of our senior team members have PhDs in STEM. We put the safety and well-being of our people above all other priorities. We love to track and measure. We use a software called Asana to monitor project progress, allocate tasks and communicate across different shifts and locations. We follow detailed standard operating procedures for all research testing, plant operations, and business operations. We keep detailed timecards. We have meticulous naming and version control policies for all electronic files. We record and thoroughly analyze all data and are in constant pursuit to find the best and most efficient way to get things done. We work hard and always seek to work smart.

 

Mango is in growth mode. Scale-up of this type is a process with many unknowns and surprises, and this position will have the opportunity to help scale a first-of-its kind technology. We are looking for someone to join us on this adventure with an open mind and enthusiasm to get into details. A glass half-full, positive attitude is a must!

 

The mission of this position is to ensure that engineering design, permitting, and construction of the new Commercial Flagship Plant proceeds according to schedule and on budget; and a lifecycle analysis is completed on the overall process.

 

The Commercial Plant Project Manager will be expected to:

 

  • Manage engineering design for commercial plant
  • Oversee permitting for commercial plant
  • Maintain budget for commercial plant-related costs
  • Oversee completion of LCA on Mango Materials’ process

 

Our ideal candidate is/has:

 

  • An undergrad degree in engineering
  • Project management experience (>5 yrs)
  • Related engineering experience (>5 yrs)
  • Excellent, professional communication skills
  • Outstanding organizational skills
  • Excellent technical writing skills
  • Experience completing some level of FEED study
  • Experience related to constructing a production facility
  • Must be hands-on and willing/capable to perform content creation for spreadsheets, documents, presentations, etc.
  • Attentive to detail
  • A positive outlook
  • An out-of-the box thinker
  • Comfortable with a fast-paced work environment and the uncertainty inherent in a start-up company

 

It would be nice, but not essential if you have:

 

  • A San Francisco Bay Area residence
  • Prior experience with design/construction of biotech commercial facility
  • Prior experience with gas fermentation
