Job Description

WHO WE ARE

The Humane League (THL) is a global nonprofit ending the abuse of animals raised for food. THL fosters a high-energy culture of teamwork and mission-driven problem solving, and we have earned recognition as Top Charity from Animal Charity Evaluators for all of their rating periods. Over the past few years, we’ve grown to a staff of 90+ talented individuals dispersed across the country and around the world.

YOUR OPPORTUNITY

The Campaigns Coordinator position plays an integral role in the strategizing, planning, and execution of the tactics and strategies that make up our US campaigns and corporate engagement projects. As a campaigner, you have a deep comprehension of our targets, our primary campaign strategies, and the tools we will use to win. You create and execute tactics across a variety of media, including email, social media, advertisements, and other digital and on-the-ground spaces. You are relentless, strategic, organized, innovative, well-written, persuasive, and motivated to find the key pressure points that will bring us closer to a victory for animals. This position reports directly to the Corporate Campaigns Manager.

This is a full-time, remote position. This position requires domestic travel for annual staff retreats, which is equivalent to approximately 1-2 trips per year, and potentially travel to major campaign events, such as visiting a target’s headquarters. We are only able to consider applicants who reside in the United States and possess United States work authorization.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Extensively researching and monitoring contact information, data, and key details about companies and their executives, using intuition and quick attention to detail while combing through data and locating difficult-to-find information online. Evaluating said research to inform strategies and tactics we use throughout the campaign or project, what our communications should look like (e.g. slogan and ad language), and the project plan that we follow.
  • Supporting and, where necessary, managing campaigns and Corporate Engagement projects, including setting strategies and preparing and executing tactics, and ensuring the overall success of the campaigns or projects. Tactics include (but are not limited to) email and social media campaigns, phone-calls with corporate employees, and digital and physical advertisements.
  • Collaborating on and directing cross departmental projects with Corporate Engagement, Organizing, Digital Products, Communications, and other teams on a daily basis to set goals, strategize, prepare and carry out various campaigns related projects. Projects include, but are not limited to, assisting with on the ground actions, media outreach, launching and maintaining volunteer petitions, creating video, website, and written content, and the creation and inputting of social media actions for THL’s Fast Action Network (FAN) platform.
  • Acting as a Campaigns representative to other THL departments, volunteers, coalition groups, as well as corporations, media, outside vendors, and other stakeholders; this requires frequent professional communication.
  • Occasionally supporting international campaigns and the US Corporate Relations team.
  • Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • Self-motivation and diligence: the ability to set and manage your own schedule and to-do lists and carry them out in a timely, efficient manner to achieve as much as possible for animals in the limited amount of time that you have each day. Campaigns are won through the systematic, relentless efforts of our corporate engagement staff. You must be comfortable working both objectively and as a part of a fully remote team.
  • Ability to be strategic: the right approaches will come as a result of deeply comprehending the target company and the current landscape. When each choice is a strategic one, the impact of all judgments can increase.
  • Efficiency: the ability to take advantage of the tools and resources available and work to accomplish more with less, as well as successfully handle multiple tasks and projects at once, amidst multiple priorities.
  • Organization: managing a large number of projects and campaigns requires exemplary organizational skills, including effective cross-departmental project management skills, daily use of Google Drive, online communication tools like Slack, spreadsheets, and project management software.
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills: the ability to communicate our message well and professionally to corporations, media, and volunteers is vital to the success of our campaigns.
  • Flexibility: the Campaign Coordinator position balances a wide variety of tasks and requires constant adaptation and learning. Campaigns are often unpredictable. Campaigns must quickly adapt to the changing landscape in order to capitalize on new developments and information throughout the campaign.
  • Innovative problem solving: because each campaign pans out in a different manner, this position requires you to problem-solve and think quickly and creatively in order to maximize the likelihood of success and reap the biggest rewards for animals
