Buyer – TIFF Shop
Visitor Experience

The Buyer, TIFF Shop is responsible for all aspects of merchandising for the TIFF Shop. Top priorities of this role include nurturing positive vendor relationships, exploring new vendor and product options, and achieving sales targets, all while telling a story and maintaining the TIFF Shop identity.


  • Responsible for merchandising that achieves monthly and yearly sales targets.
  • Ensure the TIFF Shop is telling a story with merchandise and display.
  • Maintain positive and productive relations with existing vendors, while exploring new vendors and product opportunities that align with TIFF programming.
  • Identify and promote local artisans whose products align with TIFF Shop identity.
  • Manage purchase orders and payment process cycle.
  • Strategically work with other departments to market the TIFF Shop, the Shop online and all merchandise.
  • Ensure product tie-in to film programming, events and exhibitions in TIFF Bell Lightbox.
  • Work with other departments to properly promote and market the TIFF Shop, with cohesive branding and identity over all platforms.
  • Source and design TIFF branded and Festivals branded merchandise.
  • Ensure web and digital signage is up to date with merchandise content.
  • Create item descriptors for unique merchandise.
  • Manage and update the TIFF Shop online.
  • Assist with online order procurement and fulfillment.
  • Maintain knowledge of the TIFF Bell Lightbox, its programming and proactively prepare for business levels in advance.

  • Experience in sourcing and ordering products.
  • Negotiating skills and experience with vendor terms, retail pricing and understanding margins.
  • Proven experience in merchandising and maximizing sale strategies and techniques.
  • Inventory management.
  • Strong Technical skills including Point of Sale Systems, Online retail stores, Microsoft Office Products.
  • Experience Managing an Online store.
  • Well-developed verbal and written communication skills
  • The ability to build strong internal and external relationships.
  • Dynamic and outgoing personality with a can-do attitude.
  • Able to use sound judgment and discretion.
  • Adaptable to a flexible work schedule including some evenings and weekends.
