Job Description

As a Business Intelligence Specialist Data, you will help drive data strategy. Your work will support the Airports Authority’s strategic goals to understand and analyze business performance and realize new business opportunities.

Business Intelligence Specialist Data

Serves in the EBIA Department of the Office of Technology located at Washington Dulles International Airport.

Develops and maintains applications to extract, transform, and load (ETL) data from disparate source systems to implement and integrate Business Intelligence (BI) solutions for the Airports Authority. Performs related functions.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Designs and implements strategic data initiatives, such as enterprise data warehouse (EDW), master data, data governance, data quality, metadata management, and data marts.

Assists the EBIA Director with daily information management and Data/ETL operations.

Administers and monitors automated and manual data integration and Data/ETL jobs to verify execution and measure performance.

Builds reports to audit and validate data warehouse jobs. Maintains all production data warehouse integration projects, working with developers to replicate or resolve technical issues.

Designs and implements the Airports Authority-wide metadata and information management program, including development of enterprise conceptual, logical, and physical data models.

Provides data architecture support to major application development initiatives in an agile environment.

Implements program standards and procedures to support data warehouse administration. Provides technical advice on data management and design to Application Development and Enterprise Architecture project teams, end-users, and business stakeholders.

Develops design and Data/Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) coding of Source Dependent Extracts, Source Independent Loads, and Post-Load Processes from source to target systems for operational data stores and dimensional data warehouses into an in-memory or Massively Parallel Processing platform or a Structure Query Language (SQL) Server/Oracle Data Warehouse, using near real-time loads and Change Data Capture.

Documents the Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) technical landscape. Designs and implements relational, multidimensional, and tabular data models. Develops approaches for proper integration of data and information management. Helps define the overall data warehouse

architecture, including the Data/ETL process, Operational Data Store system, EDW, and data marts.

Prepares and presents operational analytics to senior Office managers and business stakeholders to drive changes in business practices, metrics, and performance.

Ensures source code is reliably backed up and versioned to prevent disruption. Develops guidelines and standards for in-house coding and ensures that vendor code is consistent with the standards.

Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Eight years of progressively responsible experience in data warehousing and integration, including experience applying data modeling techniques and ETL coding.

Knowledge of and skill in developing and implementing a corporate data architecture program with responsibility for enterprise conceptual/logical data modeling, data policies, standards and compliance monitoring, metadata mapping, data governance, and as-is/target data architecture to participate in strategic data initiatives.

Knowledge of and skill in developing and implementing enterprise information strategy, enterprise data warehousing, master data management, and data integration, transformation, analysis, mapping, governance, and quality to obtain optimal data and translate it into actionable information for strategic business decisions.

Knowledge of overall data warehouse architecture and ability to integrate large structured and unstructured datasets in multiple formats, character sets, and delivery methods.

Knowledge of and skill in working with SQL Server/Oracle Data Warehouse, using near real-time loads and Aptean (CDC) with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) and Oracle Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) data with Informatica.

Knowledge of and skill in working with database management systems, such as Oracle and Microsoft Structured Query Language (SQL), and data warehouse solutions and reporting tools to centrally manage and analyze data originating from disparate source systems.

Skill in analyzing data and established procedures within an organization to apply technology principles and practices to lead others in developing, maintaining, and enhancing the information management program, including data architecture and governance.

Ability to speak and write effectively, with emphasis on communicating technical issues to nontechnical audiences.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

A Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Decision Science, Statistics, or related field.

Experience developing ETL using industry leading tools, such as Informatica.

Experience in Location Intelligence with geographic information system and spatial data.

EDUCATION

A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or Statistics, or related field.
