Position Summary:
As a Business Analyst, you will serve as business partner to the marketing & sales team, driving development and implementation of category initiatives to meet and exceed financial objectives. The Business Decisions Analyst will be an expert in the pervasive application of insights to fuel category growth. Key role is synthesizing external and internal data, business trends, competitive trends, shopper insights, financial insights, etc., to identify opportunities and develop solutions to drive category growth across the store. Additionally, the role will support reporting functions for the team across the entire business.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
  • Provide the commercialization team with objective, comprehensive, consumer-based insights and actionable recommendations for the brand and category
  • Support to identify and solve for key business issues through regular monthly, quarterly and ad hoc business analysis, including category reviews, market share performance and customer presentations
  • Act as the indispensable consultative partner, driving projects to achieve marketing and financial objectives
  • Develop and participate in cross- functional projects/teams to activate growth driving executions. Leverage business analysis and insights to create solutions that drive growth.
  • Serve as the syndicated data expert in our categories; maintaining our databases and ensuring consistency across reporting
  • Analyze various types of data, including retailer, syndicated, panel, loyalty card data, to identify business issues & opportunities and relates them potential solutions for the category and Instinct
  • Collaborate with brand, retail marketing, integrated marketing communications and sales to deliver customer, category, and brand insights and recommendations
  • Serve as the single point of contact for syndicated data requests and reporting for the organization and help with master data management
  • Deliver standardized reporting templates for regular reporting of category, market shares, mix analysis, marketing mix performance results
Personal Attributes:
  • Data driven, analytical marketer-mindset. Frames data in a way that is easily digestible and actionable across the organization
  • Excellent verbal, visual and written presentation skills, with the ability to analyze and understand the data and then effectively communicate those insights to both internal and external audiences
  • Must be capable of managing multiple projects at once and able to prioritize and adapt quickly.
  • Requires a high level of analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills as well as great attention to detail.
  • Capacity to work independently in a fast-paced environment with a high degree of personal motivation.
  • Detail oriented and personal accountability to provide accurate and thorough analysis
Preferred Experience
  • 4+ years’ experience in a Sales, Category Management, Marketing or Analyst role
  • Must have demonstrated skills working on projects and analytic analysis, including brand insight, syndicated data (IRI, Nielsen), and assortment and post-promotional analysis
  • Must be proficient with PowerPoint and Excel, and able to utilize critical formulas and/or macros in Excel. Expertise in MS Excel, Power Point, and Word
  • Knowledge of the pet industry a plus
  • Understanding of shopper insights and panel data preferred.
  • Experience with large databases and/or database management, SAP preferred
Travel Requirements: Requires travel up to 5% of the time.
