Job Description

The Business Simplification Group (BSG) acts as a catalyst across businesses and functions, driving the transformation of Citi into a simpler, customer-centric organization.  The group partners with business lines and functions to establish the framework for and execute the Business Simplification Program, which includes developing enterprise-wide domain taxonomies, publishing standard playbooks and procedures, and creating process & design engineering models (Process Mapping and Business Architecture).

As part of BSG, the Business Architecture team seeks to create and help implement an agreed end-state vision of Citi’s business, data and application architecture.  It uses a process driven approach to define how capabilities are bounded, placed, deployed, shared, connected and operated to meet business objectives. The incumbent works with colleagues in business and technology groups to help shape, define and implement capabilities that help meet business objectives in the context of an agreed Business Architecture.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the development and communication of the Target State Business Architecture.
  • Apply ongoing updates to the Target State Business Architecture to keep it current with changing business and economic environments, and regulatory frameworks.
  • Provide Business Architecture support for Strategic Initiatives.
  • Perform Business Architecture Reviews.
  • Engage in Technology Spend Review & Prioritization
  • Partner with global process owners, program/project teams and functional groups (Front-office, Risk, Finance, Technology, Operations, Global Program Management Office (GPMO), to deliver objectives in compliance with Citi policies and standards
  • Build strong relationships with key stakeholders including program sponsors and program leads
  • Execute against multiple contending priorities simultaneously
  • Responsible for the end-to-end plan(s) working with all stakeholders to obtain comprehensive commitments and in driving the work to completion.
  • Leverage a broad range of experience in dealing with complex systems, data constructs, operational and business processes. The candidate must establish and/or leverage existing relationships with a wide range of stakeholders at all levels.
  • Engage in the delivery of key programs and projects.
  • Actively mitigate delivery risks and resolve critical issues.
  • Mediate stakeholder conflicts and overcome organizational roadblocks.
  • Make recommendations for and drive operational and business process improvement – both short-term and long term.
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm’s reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.

Qualifications:

  • 15+ years Banking, Financial Services experience with specific experience in one or more areas in banking including Operations, Finance and Risk.
  • Drive the development and execution of the strategy across the business
  • Outstanding executive communications skills
  • Process reengineering and process mapping experience preferred, along with a proven track record of successfully leading complex and transformative projects.
  • Good understanding of data and data concepts including data standards, data quality and data models.
  • Confidence in providing authoritative business architectural advice to business and technology colleagues
  • Ability to see the “big picture” without losing attention to detail.
  • Strong attention to detail and willingness to “roll up sleeves”.
  • Need for ‘intellectual curiosity’, critical thinking skills and ability to challenge ‘group think’.
  • Demonstrated facility to interact and work effectively with diverse teams
  • Ability to lead projects with multiple counterparts across organizations
  • Good understanding of data and data concepts including data standards, data quality and data models.
  • Excellent communication skills required including ability to synthesize key messages and “storytell”.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred. Business Management, Finance, Computing
