Bernie 2020 is seeking a motivated, dynamic Ballot Access Organizing Director. The Ballot Access Organizing Director will oversee the important effort to gather petition signatures to qualify Senator Bernie Sanders for the ballot across a number of states. Our campaign will harness its large national grassroots volunteer base to complete this effort. The ideal candidate enjoys spending time working on the road and excels at team management, organizing strategy, time management and ability to meet deadlines, and leadership development.

Essential Duties:
-Set, meet and exceed benchmarks for volunteer recruitment, grassroots engagement and petition signatures.
-Coordinate petition gathering strategy with National Ballot Access and Organizing Teams.
-Carefully track and report progress to goal in signature collection efforts across a number of states.
-Build a massive signature collection program that can recruit and activate volunteers and volunteer leaders to collect petition signatures at scale.
-Manage training program for volunteers to build powerful, persuasive volunteer teams and volunteer leaders.
-Work collaboratively with team members and leadership to improve the signature collection program and provide feedback and lessons-learned. Participate in regular debriefs and actively seek out and share best practices.
-Travel to states to train volunteer teams, monitor signature collection progress, and oversee signature submission.
-Actively build an organizational culture that is welcoming and inspiring and a working environment that is inclusive and equitable.
-Other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Duties:
-Over time, this role will manage a small team of organizing staff focused on signature collection and require regular check-ins with staff that report to you.
-Implement management structure for the ballot access field team to track metrics and hold staff accountable to data-driven goals.
-Model clear communication, expectation setting, and empowering culture for the ballot access team.

-Experience in an organizing role, including managing staff and volunteer leaders.
-A working knowledge of the structure of political campaigns and familiarity with VAN.
-Demonstrated experience in electoral, community, labor, or movement organizing.
-Demonstrated experience managing teams to meet specific goals.
-Ability to train in both hard and soft skill development.
-Incredible attention to detail.
-Strong interpersonal communication skills. Ability to remain a personable and friendly demeanor.
-Willingness to spend large chunks of time on the road overseeing signature collection in the states and a knack for quickly building rapport with volunteer leaders.
-Ability to thrive in a high-pressure environment that may include long hours, nights, and weekends.

Preferred qualifications:
-Experience in or leading signature collection efforts, whether for candidate or ballot initiative campaigns.
-Public speaking skills and/or experience leading trainings for medium-sized or large groups.
