Full-Time Automation Engineering Manager

As an Automation Engineering Manager, you will be accountable for management of all on site industrial controls systems, infrastructure and architecture (both new and existing). This manager has direct management authority for professional and direct level staff related to this scope of work. Responsibilities include both GMP and non GMP systems.

This role will provide YOU the opportunity to lead key activities to progress YOUR career, these responsibilities include some of the following…

  • Owner for Automation Lifecycle recapitalization program.
  • Gatekeep standards for new system architecture design and installation of instrumentation and control systems including building automation systems, data systems, process control, DCS and utility PLC’s which are harmonized with GSK-standards.
  • Manage Computer Systems Validation program and its associated Data Integrity related aspects at the site.
  • Manage change control process for automation/Process Control Equipment.
  • Support maintenance with troubleshooting of instruments and control systems.
  • Manage vendors and consultants to ensure that contracts contain appropriate technical specifications are delivered as required. Stay current on developments in the field of instrumentation and control technology and GSK standards.
  • Interface with users, peers, and management to ensure appropriate input and integration of local and corporate standards.
  • Author, review, revise, or approve Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) as required.
  • Responsible for on time compliance records of Automation Department.

EHS Responsibilities:

  • Know, understand and comply with all health, safety and environmental (HSE) guidelines.
  • Report unsafe conditions.
  • Report all injuries, illnesses and hazardous materials releases.
  • Wear personal protective equipment.
  • Attend HSE training programs.
  • Follow all safe work procedures.
  • Know, understand, and adhere to all Quality Compliance standards (Data Integrity, QA and QC).
  • Adhere to QMS policy and regulatory requirements.

Why you?

Basic Qualifications:

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Science or Technology.
  • 7+ years of Automation experience.
  • 5+ years in Pharmaceutical industry.

Preferred Qualifications:

If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Relevant Industrial Controls System Certification.
  • Experience with PLC programming (AB, Siemens S7 & S5), SCADA, HMI configuration (Intellution Fix32 and iFix, Wonderware, Siemens Apogee).
