Salary: $32,460 – $56,806
The Challenge
We are looking for a Vehicle/Equipment Repair Technician to join our Carthage Equipment team.
In this role you will:
    • Operate a fuel/service truck.
    • Perform semi-skilled work in routine services, parts replacements, and minor repairs of a variety of vehicles and highway construction/maintenance equipment located in shop or on job sites.
    • Perform mechanical work at various levels.
    • Perform light duty mechanic work on systems: Preventative Maintenance, Brakes, Steering, Tires and Tubes, Wheels, Rims, and Hubs, transmission (auto), hydraulics, air conditioning, instruments, gauges, and air intake systems.
    • Work independently in the field and under close supervision in the equipment shop depending upon the complexity of the assignment.
    • Prepare and maintain paperwork for equipment repair, inventory, service records, and employment.
    • Move parts and materials to repair and maintain equipment.
    • Safely operate equipment for testing purposes.
    • Work in indoor and outdoor environments
 
What You Bring
    • Valid Class “A” Commercial Driver’s License with “N” endorsement.
    • Experience repairing and replacing tires.
    • Experience performing preventive maintenance on any of these: light, medium, heavy duty trucks, or heavy equipment
    • Skills to use at least 2 tools and pieces of equipment in the equipment shop such as wrenches, sockets, battery chargers, hydraulic jacks, loaders, fork lifts, automotive/truck lifts, fuel service trucks, tire changers, tire balancers, welders, cutting torches, diagnostic equipment, computers, tire jacks, tire balance machines, pneumatic wrenches, diagnostic gauges, electronic testers, air impact wrenches, air compressors, air guns, or torque wrenches.
    • Good ability to understand verbal and written instructions.
    • Commitment to a safe working environment by leading by example.
    • Ability to read and interpret Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) manuals.
    • Strength to move relatively heavy objects.
Notes
    • Safety toe shoes are required.
    • You must have a Commercial Driver’s License Class “A” permit within 60 days of hire and Commercial Driver’s License Class “A” license with “N” endorsement within 90 days of employment.
    • We will conduct a background check with your previous employers over the past 2 years for controlled substances and alcohol.
    • We may require EPA certification as a Type I, II, III, or Universal technician.
 
Education & Experience
    • High School/GED diploma, or
    • An equivalent combination of education and experience.
