Full-Time Associate Product Owner

Job Description

R1 is the leading provider of technology-enabled revenue cycle management services which transform and solve revenue cycle performance challenges across hospitals, health systems and physician groups. As an associate product owner at R1, you will help shape our technology vision and help hospitals as they navigate the complex healthcare payment landscape. Our associate product owners aren’t afraid to roll up their sleeves to get outcomes their users deserve. They gather inspiration and ideas by visiting users regularly and reviewing software and products that solve similar problems in other domains. They partner with their leadership and senior product owners to translate our product strategy into initiatives, building a prioritized backlog for their scrum team.

Duties & Responsibilities 

  • Drive our product vision by:
    • Using data to identify and validate opportunities, as well as to measure the health of your product
    • Understanding our business and the voice of the user
    • Under the guidance of your director translate R1’s product strategy into technology initiatives that drive desired user outcomes
  • Manage a prioritized backlog by:
    • Interpreting customer requests, turning them into requirements, stories, and acceptance criteria that can be used to build technology solutions
    • Refining backlog by leading grooming calls with scrum team
    • Understanding the pros & cons of different projects that can be prioritized as ‘next up’
  • Act as main point of contact for your technology by:
    • Interacting with business managers and end users
    • Managing a scrum team, ensuring a constant pipeline of high-value work is fed to them
  • Lead delivery of new product features by:
    • Collaborating with partners to ensure a successful roll-out plan that tracks to value
    • Meeting pre-defined P&L commitments and project delivery timelines
    • Managing release scope and communication to ensure product adoption
    • Quickly identifying blockers, developing a mitigation strategy or escalating to leadership where needed

Required Experience                      

  • Roles at this level typically require a bachelor’s degree. In lieu of a degree, a comparable combination of education and experience (including military service) may be considered.
  • Good communication skills with both business and technical audiences
  • Solid problem-solving background with good organizational skills
  • Self-starter (roll up sleeves to get things done)
  • Good organization skills, including plotting a path towards delivering outcomes for the business
  • Travel 30-50% of the time

Preferred Experience 

  • 3-5 years prior Product experience
  • BS in Healthcare, Business, Engineering or related field
  • Experience in agile product management
  • Track record of delivering solutions that drive value for your organization
  • Great people skills to negotiate trade-offs, manage organizational ambiguity, and effectively manage stakeholders
  • Enjoy rolling up your sleeves to execute and get things done
