Full-Time Associate Graphic Designer

Job Description


The Uncommon Goods Product Development team designs and develops unique, exclusive, highly personalized gifts for our customers. The Associate Graphic Designer generates ideas and designs products with an emotional connection, as well as manages relationships and projects with external designers. The Associate Graphic Designer plays a key role in accelerating original product introductions to the Uncommon Goods assortment. Success in this role is defined by the Associate Graphic Designer’s ability to deliver compelling design solutions to original and uncommon product designs whilst prioritizing multiple projects on tight deadlines.

The Associate Graphic Designer reports to the Senior Industrial Designer.

Role Responsibilities

  • Generate original product ideas that do not exist anywhere in the market.
  • Create product that solves a problem and has an emotional connection.
  • Design artwork and graphics for products and packaging.
  • Complete detailed technical briefs for all developments.
  • Present new ideas to Director, Product Development team and Merchants.
  • Manage relationships and ongoing projects with external designers.
  • Communicate regularly with Production and Merchant teams.
  • Assist in management of Custom Art Team. Assist in coordination, hiring, and training of Seasonal Custom Art Team.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree is preferred, Graphic Design or similar field degree is preferable, or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years of industry experience within a related field
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Cloud, Microsoft Office (in particular Excel and Powerpoint)
  • illustration and typography skills are required
  • Varied illustration portfolio demonstrating a variety of design styles.
  • Experience with 3D products and/or applying artwork to 3D products a plus
