Full-Time Associate Director of Institutional Partnerships

Summer Search Bay Area – Posted by VRamirez Oakland, California, United States

Job Description

While young people from low-income communities – who are disproportionately young people of color – face systemic inequities in school, in the workforce, and in life, they possess unique strengths, resilience and tremendous potential. When provided with support and resources, these young people fulfill their potential and achieve success in school, work, and life.

Through a combination of mentoring and transformative experiences, Summer Search supports young people to successfully transition from adolescence into adulthood. We aim to unleash the potential of our young people while also building a toolkit for navigating and challenging systemic barriers to higher education and career opportunities.

Summer Search Bay Area is seeking an Associate Director of Institutional Partnerships (ADIP) to lead our regional institutional fundraising. As a leader on the 6-member Bay Area development team, the ADIP will advance an institutional giving strategy that will grow our foundation & corporate revenue by 15-25% in the next three years, while expanding the partnerships required to achieve our programmatic goals outlined in our operating plan. The ADIP will partner closely with Bay Area and National staff and board leadership to diversify our regional revenue to include government grants, earned-income strategies, and a more robust corporate partnership program. This position manages our Grants Manager and reports to the Deputy Director.
Specifically, the ADIP will:
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive institutional giving strategy that grows foundation & corporate revenue by 15-25% ($1.725M in FY2022) by 2025 and advances our regional fundraising and programmatic goals.
  • Lead cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of an existing portfolio of major corporate and foundation partners.
  • Identify, qualify, and cultivate new relationships with local institutional funders, including government funding sources, that align with Summer Search’s growth plans and core values and have the capacity to make 6-7 figure gifts.
  • In partnership with the Deputy Director, lead the Development Committee in supporting the Bay Area Board and affiliate boards in identifying and cultivating institutional prospects, with a particular focus on foundation and corporate partnerships.
  • Supervise the Grants Manager in leading regional grant management, including oversight of grant-writing and reporting, data tracking, and prospecting.
  • Collaborate with program and operations leadership to build compelling grant proposals, deliver timely funding reports, and identify new opportunities for engaging our institutional partners in the Summer Search program.
  • Partner with the National Development team and senior leadership to maximize opportunities and relationships for network-wide funding.
  • Collaborate with a cohort of institutional fundraisers across the Summer Search network offering thought-partnership and take a leadership role in introducing and driving best practices across the organization.
The Associate Director of Institutional Partnerships position calls for a creative and strategic leader, with a demonstrated ability to build authentic partnerships that lead to organizational impact. Specifically, this hire will bring:
  • EXPERIENCE: 6-7 years of related work experience, ideally in nonprofit development, fundraising, corporate engagement, or business development, with at least 4 years of successful relationship management experience and a track record of crafting winning grant proposals, reports, and other funding-related tools ideally leading to 6-figure institutional gifts.
