Full-Time Associate or Full Professor

Job Description

The Department of Health Systems and Population Health in the School of Public Health at the University of Washington (UW) invites applications for one faculty position with a focus on Health Administration, Health Management, Health Economics, Population Health, Health Policy, and/or Health Informatics at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor (without tenure by reasons of funding). Rank will be commensurate with experience and qualifications. Salary is commensurate with experience and rank of appointment. This position is a full-time (100% FTE), 12-month service period position, with an anticipated start date of fall 2023.

The chosen candidate will serve as the Director of the Department’s graduate health administration programs as part of their responsibilities. In this important administrative role, the person will provide leadership for the growth and innovation of the in-residence Master of Health Administration (MHA) and Executive Master of Health Administration (EMHA) programs.

All University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research, and service. Regarding other responsibilities, faculty members in our department are expected to:

  1. Teach in the Department’s educational programs and mentor undergraduate, Master, and doctoral students.
  2. Develop and conduct an independent externally funded research program, including preparing and submitting grants to federal and/or non-federal funding agencies (e.g., R-level, program project grants),
  3. Publish scientific research findings in respected journals in healthcare management, operations, engineering, business, health services, health informatics, or other relevant fields, and disseminate healthcare organization and management theory and practice experiences through professional publications, lay media, or other channels.
  4. Engage with healthcare stakeholders (e.g., healthcare delivery systems, policymakers) to advance the field of healthcare organization and delivery,
  5. Lead program faculty and staff in pursuing innovation in achieving its academic mission, periodic reflection, and continuous improvement.

In addition, the successful candidate would be expected to participate in activities that support and advance the department’s commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI), as well as regularly participate in University, School, Department, and Program activities such as engaging in governance, leading seminars, guest speaking, orientation(s), program and department faculty meetings, serving on key committees, mentoring and providing career development for diverse professionals and students, helping to continually update educational vision and strategy, graduation ceremonies, and relevant academic activities in the Department.

Qualifications

  • A doctoral degree (or foreign equivalent) in Health or Business Administration, Health Management, Health Economics, Health Policy, Health Informatics, or another relevant field with a focus on healthcare delivery systems, health policy, health services research, and/or population health.
  • Demonstrated expertise in leadership, teaching, mentorship, and research.
