Department Summary:

The Center for Student Engagement was established to plan, implement, support, and cultivate opportunities, programs and experiences for Bridgewater State University students from pre-enrollment through commencement and their transition to an active alumni status. Successful candidates will be staff members that can work collaboratively with their colleagues in CSE and across the university to meet the mission of the department in serving and supporting our racially and ethnically diverse campus community.

The Center for Student Engagement executes its mission through:

• Facilitating the university’s orientation and new student transition programs both prior to their enrollment and through their first semester at BSU.

• Campus-wide program development, and advising roles, the department will offer students the chance to develop leadership skills and experience interpersonal interaction that will enhance their personal and academic lives.​

• Providing guidance to BSU’s 80+ student organizations, supports the planning and implementation of over 400 events per academic year (including 70+ planned by Program Council).

• Overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Rondileau Student Union, creating a welcoming environment for all members of the BSU community.

• Building connections with families of students to ensure each student receives support in as many ways as possible.

Position Summary:

The Assistant Director, Outreach and Pathways for the Center for Student Engagement will work as a strategic liaison between the University’s Marketing and Communication Department, Division of Student Affairs and Enrollment Management and the CSE to ensure seamlessness in brand experience and timeliness in marketing milestones. This person serves as the primary manager in the tracking, and measurement of student engagement through the development and implementation of intentional pathway programs in collaboration with campus partners.

This position is an exempt, APA unit position and is subject to the terms of that union agreement.

Essential Duties:

· Develop and implement pathway programs that guide a talented and diverse student community through intentional programs and opportunities throughout their BSU career. Pathways may include First Year, Continuing Student (Sophomore/Junior), Graduating Student.· Coordinate with other campus departments to include programs and opportunities they are sponsoring which support the objectives and outcomes of pathway programs.· Utilize equity and inclusive practices to manage the department’s marketing and communication strategies, and promotional materials to engage with all students, and family members to market programs and build institutional affinity. Additionally, serve as the primary contact for the department.· Manage department social media presence and branding profile. Create culturally relevant and inclusive content and provide regular updates as to office hours and offers. Promote campus, office, and student organization events. Support University marketing campaigns. Interact with and answer student questions and requests for more information.· Serve as the communication specialist for the department by maintaining the digital signs, social media accounts and the website regularly.· Build working relationships with a diverse student body, faculty, and staff to create content development, promote student and employment activities and achievements for the Family Hub including; (CampusESP platform), EngageBSU (CampusGroups platform), Mobile App (ReadyEducation platform). Responsible for training staff and campus partners to access, upload and engage in the planning and implementation of communication programming throughout the year.

· Oversee the development and production of marketing materials that meets institutional standards in the development of content and use of logos in marketing projects, including print, electronic and novelty materials in partnership with Division of Marketing and Communications.· Manage and implement comprehensive assessment efforts inclusive of the analysis of assessment methods and results and report such results to inform data driven decision making for programs, services, and activities as they align with the strategic plan and core duties.· Coordinate communication workflows, marketing plans, and departmental presence for signature events and programs like but not limited to Admissions Fall Preview Days, Admitted Student programs, Kick-Off, Homecoming, Orientation, Convocation and other major department and university events, utilizing department and university platforms.· Actively support departmental programs and initiatives including but not limited to new student orientation, student employment processes, theme week programming, and large-scale department supported events; lead one other departmental project or program as determined annually.· Manage evening and weekend events as necessary/assigned.· Create, manage and run reports as needed in university reporting systems.· Utilize diversity and social justice practices to promote student success as it relates to your core duties.· Additional duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s degree required.

· 2-5 years prior experience in campus activities and/or orientation administrative roles, program advising, and/or student communications or similar fields.· Experience in service of racial equity (e.g. mentorship of racially minoritized students; service on committees; advising student organizations that represent racially minoritized groups or social justice causes)· Commitment to customer service excellence/support to enhance an environment of equity, diversity and inclusion· Ability to communicate appropriately and professionally, both verbally and in writing, with a diverse student body, faculty, and staff.· Ability to maintain flexibility in a fast-paced environment.· Ability to manage multiple priorities.· Ability to build working relationships with a diverse community of students, faculty, administrators and staff.· Willingness to work evenings and/or weekends to accommodate planned programming initiatives.

Preferred Qualifications:

· Master’s degree in Higher Education Administration, College Student Development, Marketing or similar that demonstrate transferrable skills.· Prior experience managing budgets.· Prior experiences with Ellucian Recruit (CRM Platform), CampusESP, Campus Groups, or similar technology platforms.
